Whats the most money you left CP with

Okat, so there's lots of veterans here. Whats the most amount of money any of you have left with after the summer was done. I'm planning on makin some money, and i'm interested to know if I were to penny pinch, what I could end up with.

Well it was only my first year and I had some friends that saved up what they thought "was a large sum of money"...yet I talked to pretty many people that left w/ the same about I did...MY BONUS! Good luck!

I've heard stories of a few people leaving with $2000 or so. I wanted to walk out with $2000. The total outcome of what I had to walk out with after October 28th....

Drum Roll....... My bonus which was about $475 after taxes were taken out. and a $550 in tax returns. So I basically walked out with $1000. I'm not sure if that $2000 was before or after taxes....

I made a gross pay of about $8200 with my bonus..not all of that was take home pay...but due to poor planning and a merger between 5/3 and Old Kent that didn't take place until August, I have nothing to show for it.

I was probably one of the biggest penny pinchers. I worked myself like a ten year old Mylasian kid in a Nike factory. I found a guy that would support my alcoholism (thanks Rob) and I lived in Gold. **shiver** The things I do to pay for school.

I think the total that I walked out with was $2,800, my bonus was about $800 and I haven't paid much attention to my tax returns so I don't know what I'm getting back from that. I think my gross was almost $7,000. I worked from the end of April to the end of August.

I also made out really well, making a few thousand. Although, I did work on Millennium, and had on average 65-75 hours/week....as a matter of fact....I still have about $60 left from this past summer in my account. :) I have to say that the direct deposit from 5/3 Bank was great, and I definatly recommend it.

About the dumbest thing you can do with money is what I did. I swear I'm the next character in the "Confessions of a Shopaholic" series. First off, I live in Virginia and my bank doesn't exist above the mason dixon line, so I had to send my paychecks home if I wanted to see them appear in my checking account. The first summer, I did pretty well. I have to say, I didn't work my*****off and took quite a few cutbacks so I averaged about 50-60 hours a week and I ended up saving enough to get to go on a sweet trip to Austraila the following January. Last summer I blew it. DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO CASHING YOUR PAYCHECKS....it's the biggest mistake I made. Carrying around/having that much money is just too much of a hassel, too much of a risk of losing it (yeah, did that too...left my wallet in the matterhorn bathroom but it was returned to me along with the 200 dollars in cash by a woman from Michigan...yeah, I'm more than lucky), and too much temptation to go to the mall...or the boyish alternative of that.

Anyway, get direct deposit through 5/3rd...I'm so doing that this summer so I can't get my hands on anything green and real. Trust me, you want to save as much as you can...and you can really walk away with quite a bit. Last summer I made a total of about 7,000 with my bonus and ended up having 2,000 left. You do the math...you have to be careful or you'll spend it all. Another good thing to do is have a goal in mind...like paying for tuition, paying for a big trip, paying for something that will motivate you to get out of bed every morning so you know you're doing this for something that's worth it.

I made about 8K in 9 Weeks, but I did spend some there. When I got home after travel expenses and two weeks in Boston I had about 6k in the bank. Marco ‘00
You don't even want to know what the bellboys at the hotels make. It would be utterly depressing.
The waiters at Friday's where the only ones who made more than Breakwater staff. I think there was only one or two that went home with much money though. Most people spend way too much money at CP. I just lived at my restaurant, I ate there, got drank there, and napped there too!! MarcoBreakwater '00
Both summers I made about 1500 dollars without pinching pennies or spending extravagantly. I led a mundane existence at Cedar Point and only bought stuff when I was bored on my days off.

I have made about 3500 dollars already this summer, but I won't see any of it for another month or so. This is a follow-up for anyone who got my nasty email after I quit. :-)

rawr!

Hey How old do you have to be to work and stay at the point?? That would be an awesome job. I didn't know They had Dorms for employees.

Must be over 18 to live in the dorms. Locals 14 years old and up can work in certain departments but living there requires you to be 18 or, if I am not mistaken, a high school graduate.
Thanks Chief! I'll definetely keep that in mind when I graduate next summer.

About the bellmen:

My father worked the Breakers a loooooonnnggg time ago, and said it was actually one of the better jobs he had there. No, they didn't get paid much at all, but you could certainly live off the tips.

When I worked there the bellmen got minimum wage and tips. Of course, they rarely ever reported their actual tips so a good deal of that money was take home pay. Let's put it this way: I didn't feel sorry for the bellman who made the LEAST amount of money out of the bunch.

Depending on how old your father is, he probably worked Breakers when there were NO elevators. Now those guys earned every nickel carrying bags and coolers up and down the stairs of the old hotel.
