What's Math & Science Week like now?

Hey everyone! I was thinking about making a trip up to Cedar Point, probably in the first week of operation (sometime between Monday, May 17th and Thursday, the 20th), thinking it'll be less crowded since I believe that's before most schools get out.

I see that it also coincides with their Math & Science week-long event. I searched these forums and saw a post from 2006 that asked basically the same question as I have, but back then it was a Physics day and not a week. Did anyone go to Cedar Point last year during the Math & Science week? If so, how were the crowds? I'll be infinitely grateful for your input here! Thanks!

Man I'm also planning a trip that week, worried to death about long lines are rude kidz!!!!! Not able to change plans so just going to have to ride it out.

For what it's worth, I went ahead and contacted Cedar Point and here was their reply:

"The Math & Science event for high school students is spread out over the whole week. The park is open to the general public during this event. You should not encounter significantly large crowds during this event.

Any time during the season, Cedar Point recommends visiting on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, when attendance is lower. Our busiest days any time during the season are Saturdays."

So that gives me some hope of smaller crowds. Plus I think Jeff has said the crowds thin out later in the day anyway (they have to get back to school at some point, right?).

The last two hours really clear out a lot during those day. I always take a nice break between 1-3 and rest up for the last two hours, seems to work out well that way.

I too am going to the park during math and science week (Thurs, Fri). Any other thoughts on what the park will be like? Thanks

When I went back in 2008 in late May, just it was crowed! And other years going in mid May, the school kids come in large numbers!.

Sorry for posting in a old thread, but I am going with my school on May 15th, I was wondering what to expect...

Some friends and I take a day off work to go to the park during that week every year, and it tends to be more crowded than one might expect for a weekday early in the season, but not too bad. I know we've ridden Millennium Force on such days, and as frequent park visitors we wouldn't have waited more than 45 minutes for it, so it can't have been a long line. Dragster does sometimes have a long wait, since teenagers tend to flock to that one.

Of course, the usual rules apply: Early in the day, go to the back of the park first and work your way forward; Raptor is right by the front gate and tends to be busier early. Also, often the school groups are back on their bus by 5:00 or 6:00, so the crowds really thin out by the end of the day. (Doesn't help if you're part of those school groups obviously. ;))

The one big thing you have to worry about during this week is long lines at the quick service food locations. They pretty much all eat together during lunch and lines could get long and a little out of control. They usually have an assignment for most of their morning and have to catch the bus by mid to late afternoon so the ride lines are not to bad.

GO IRISH!!

Good to read that the park won't be all that busy, heading to Cedar Point this week as well.

But as a precaution I went ahead and bought the Fast Pass for my group of 4 for Friday because I just don't want to waste time standing in line with tons of high school people. I want to ride TTD as many times as I want with a minimal wait :)

Last year was great during that week. Walk ons most of the day. The kids have 'assignments' to do throughout the day and the crowds were very small.
