What WOOD you put in a new cp WOODy?
Lets say Cedar Point wanted a new woody and asked your opinion on what types of elements should they put in it. They want it to be a new boardwalk coaster and since CP is known for there large assortment of rides they want it to be considerably different from Mean Streak and Blue Streak.
So what do you think Cedar Point's new wooden roller coaster should have.

Well honestly, I think it should be of a "classic" design. Something that harkens back to a time long forgotten. Granted we don't need to go too far back, we don't want any serious injuries. hehe :-) But seriously, I'd really love to see a Cyclone style coaster, or even a woodie with really tight turns and a decent amount of airtime. Maybe a classic wood twister or something.
But for my money, it's gotta be white. Whenever I think of the classic boardwalk coasters, they are always white. :-)

Realistically, I think you'll see a midsized CCI. As is common knowledge, CF is very pleased with Ghostrider. I wouldn't be surprised to see more pop up at other CF parks. I don't think it would be out-and-back because they've already got one of those, so it'll probably be very close to the Ghostrider design, which I think you can place in the footprint of Oceana, Coral Courtyard, Convention Center, and Peanuts Playground with some minor changes.

That is an interesting point about how the area occupied by TSFKA Oceana, TBFKA Sea Land, Coral Courtyard and the Convention Hall, would be a nice footprint for a woodie. But, if they end up removing all of that at the end of this season, and not plan on building the next big thing until 2002, that would create a large void for next year. So it would seem to me that "something" would need to occupy that area for next year.

I think we will see a Arrow Mad Mouse or Arrowbatic next year. That is not a major addition, and it will "Change the look of Cedar Point" without too much trouble.
I doubt they would get a Clone of Ghostrider, because clones aren't Cedar Points thing. They will probably come up with an amazing design. One question: What records will CP break with this woodie? I doubt height and speed... Maybe steepest drop, maybe most airtime, how about first wooden coaster to do two loops.... J/K!

Clones might not be Cedar Point's thing but they are Cedar Fairs thing (i.e. Mamba, Steel Force, Wild Thing). Don't count on an Arrowbatic. Did you ever notice that Cedar Point doesn't build never before seen types of rollercoasters. So unless Cedar Point sees an Arrowbatic go in at another park and be a wild sucsecess they won't build one. I don't like the whole "Mad Mouse" inverted concept. Look at the "pipeline" why has it never gone into commercial production? Because it had a very low rider capacity. If the boardwalk project goes through (which it probably will) I do see a rethemeing of Disaster Trans. If no the inside of the ride the outside atleast. Look how musch better the Exteminator looks since they have redone the outside. The new rollercoaster (if any) I see for 2001 is an old fasioned wild mouse. Or a midsized wooden twister. Perhaps a recreation of the Cedar Point Cyclone.

this is what I mean. Cedar Point didn't build the first inverted, looping, wooden, bobsled, steel sitdown, or stand-up. They took the ideas and made them better. Millennium Foce is not a new concept, it's just taller and better.

i hope they put a twister/airtime/cyclone typ ride with a large turnaround. white supports w/ red track. call it sandusky cyclone. it should be a "maxed out" cyclone style. very banked turns, bigger hills, steeper, and faster. that would be fine w/ me.

Hard to say. I really like the Villian at SFO, so a wooden track/steel support coaster might be my vote. But I would not turn down an all wood Cyclone-style one either. It's got to have airtime on every hill and some full circles.
A ride doesn't have to be a record breaker to be a good ride and bigger doesn't always mean better. After the two awesome rides Brandon and I had last night on the Villian, I'd love a clone of that. I would like to see the steel supports kept though. The other problem is that is CP got a Villian/Ghostrider Clone it wouldn't be as fast because of a mid-course break some where on the ride and the trains would have to be more "insurance friendly" with seatbelts and high seat backs which the Villian does not have and hopefully never will!

Right on Dan. All CP has to do is tell CCI they want an 80 ft high twister that is as close to a Travers coaster as modern tastes can handle and they will be in great shape!
It depends. If you, say, built a 100ft, 3500ft twister, you could get away w/ only 2 trains and still get throughput, ala Shivering Timbers, which is block-less and all the better for it.

Shivering Timbers looks like it was designed for Cedar Point. Put a block brake on that flat spot after the turnaround so that it can run three trains, and...guess what...on its opening day, I clocked it at 2:42. :)

Shivering Timbers for CP would be perfect. Only I would like to see a more insane ending. I think it would be neat to see a Shivering Timbers-ish ride but instead of the turn around, make a Banked Drop towards the beach, then go right back up. Like the Jap. Steel Dragon will do! Then have a really tight helix at the end with lots of speed.
