What will happen if Intamin go's under?

if it does, dragster is gone, but what about the force?

RIP WWL 1983-2005

I think he means that since TTD is not a stock ride, that there wont be anybody to manufacture spare parts for it.

Who knows what he means since he made "goes" into a contraction.

Intamin isn't going anywhere anytime soon. As for parts, they would only have a limited time the ride could run before Cedar Point runs out of parts. If Intamin ceases to exist, Cedar Point will find parts for MF and TTD on their own. The contract probably covers the specific conditions that apply.

Kinda like their rides, huh?

I dont understand why everyone is bashing Intamin suddenly. Why? Go to amusement today and take a look at the top ten. Look at the ride manufacturers. Intamin, B&M, Intamin, B&M, Intamin, B&M. There's an Arrow and a Morgan ride in there too but man! There are just as many Intamin top ten coasters as there are B&M. Is Intamin still so sucky? Yes they have their problems but they get them worked out. This annoys me. Same with the anti-Mantis posts. I don't think Intamin is going anywhere on the count of they are one of the top ride manufacturers in the world. Don't get too excited because they're not going anywhere right now.

People bash IAG out of frustration, which supercedes common sense.

And 10-15 years ago, the same would have been said about Arrow, and look what happened to them. Just because they have some of the top coasters doesn't mean they are immortal.

Someone at these companies (and their customer's--parks) needs to put a #1 next to "Ending Downtime".

It wasn't built to sit there broken, was it?

Just give them a break. They're working with more advanced technology than any other company which is why they are having trouble with their rides more than other companies. They're not doing THAT bad of a job. I think they're doing good enough to the point where they are not going under. They have been building rides like crazy and making millions. With that kind of money rolling in, I would say that they're in good shape. They're the only ones brave enough to work with all that advanced technology. Why don't you give them credit for their work instead of insulting them?

You know, Enron was doing what ever they did like crazy and making millions too.

If I built something for you, and it spent 25% of its time sitting in your garage not working, are you going to be happy with me? They could build the greatest ride in the world, but until it is experiencing 95% plus up-time, they still have something to prove.

I agree that IAG needs to improve their up-time on their coasters with new tech, such as the hydraulic launch.

But, it also seems true that they build other coasters that dont use that tech. CP took a risk when building TTD, and I'm sure they learned their lesson.

That does not mean that IAG will go out of business - not by a long shot.

Brandon

Well if Intamin does go under there is this age old technology called private contracting. If you by a Ford you can go to a generic car shop and still get your car fixed.

Out of curiosity, where does CP get spare parts for Magnum or Gemini, or any Arrow product for that matter? Obviously the rides are still there, so I would just assume the same for Intamin rides if they were to go under.

djDaemon's avatar

Well, Arrow isn't technically out of business, but rather bought by S&S, I believe. Even so, ANY fab shop can create custom parts for ANYTHING - its not like Arrow/Intamin have patented metal fabrication technology.

Brandon

Okay I guess nobody gets what I'm saying. Do the following. E-mail Intamin and tell them about all the negative opinions you have about them. I'm curious to see what kind of responses you will get. Or E-mail someone who REALLY knows what they're talking about. Maybe e-mail an editor from Amusement Today or something and see what they have to say about Intamin. If they also talk negatively about Intamin as much as all of you, I'll shut up. But for now, I dont think everyone should jump to conclusions and start "Intamin Sucks" threads. I think they should be given credit for all of their hard work. Instead, all everyone has to say are degrading things about them. They only made some of your favorite coasters like Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Top Thrill Dragster. I guess that's not good enough for you though.

I'm not trying to be a jerk about this or start a huge arguement by the way. I just think they deserve a little more credit than what is being given to them.

Jethro makes a very good point. It seems that everyone forgets about all of IAG's other coasters (of which they have many) that don't use hydraulic launch. Sure, there are other problems besides the HL, but they deserve respect for the fact that they try things others are afraid to do.

It is amazing how quickly people chastise them when they have done FAR more good things than bad.

Brandon

Well, what other ride manufacturers have had as many ride-related deaths/injuries in the past 5 years? Sure, compared to the amount of riders, its a microscopic percentage, but then compare that to say, any of the B&M coasters. I personally have never heard of, or cannot remember a death on any B&M ever.

Girl choked on a piece of gum on Raging Bull.....now then again that wasn't really ride related.
