How much is too much to bring with you when you move in and what types of things would you say are absolutely needed?
I havent been hired yet, but I am just wondering ahead of time for if I do get a call.
Is there a lot of room in a dresser for all of the extra clothes and everything?
Should you bring a "food stash"?
How big are the beds so I know what size sheets to buy.
Should you bring a stand up fan?
WHAT ELSE IS NEEDED?
I will have my own car so I am able to fit as much as I need in my car for the drive up.
I am nervous about getting my call or not I applied and they sent me an email telling me what time they should contact me and what day but I haven't heard from them the email also said that they are interested in me working there does this mean they will call me for sure? This is also my first year if hired ?
I would correlate between your roommates to see you is bringing what. It would be frustrating if you have two microwaves, but not no TV, or three tvs and no mini fridge, etc. However, I would pack on the lighter side. The rooms are small, shared with multiple roommates.
Must items include:
- Alarm clock
- Flip flops (for the shower)
- Calendar (or any device to write down your schedule)
- A watch, NOT your cell phone
- Toiletries
- At least one mini fridge per room.
- Some clothes, but not your entire closet...
- Suntan lotion, so you do look like a lobster
- At least two pairs of tennis shoes (make sure you get the colors you need. Some departments are different).
The sizes of the bed are twin size. You can bring food with you. However, there is a Meijer, Target, Walmart, Kroger, and a mall in town. The bus does make Meijer / mall runs (or find someone who is going to the store). There is a store where you can buy pop, snacks, toiletries, and stamps but it's pricer than the stores in town. There are microwaves in the common store and in the lobby of 1500 lobby, so it is possible to live without having a microwave in your room.

If hired, when do you find out who your roommates are? Do you find out before you move in or the day that you move in?
Is there something you need to fill out like how they do in college? Like a paper and you write down things about yourself and they match you up with people who share the same interests?
Or is it just an all out random match up with everyone?
I do have a friend who is applying, if we are both hired, are we able to request to room together?
You can request to reserve a spot for someone else (but there is a time limit). You can also find roommates before going up there (on facebook, etc...). If you don't have anyone, they will stick you in a room with an empty bed.

Like everyone has said, don't bring too much.
I ended up bringing lots of movies, knick-knacks, lots of office supplies, tons of shoes, toiletries, etc. It was probably a mistake. I never really used anything more than I needed. Never watched any movies, never really even spent time in the room. Basically, if you have to question if it's too much or if you *really* need something, you probably shouldn't bring it.

Yea, I would always bring 5-7 movies with me. I never watch any of them, just because you're doing other things, such as being at work, out with friends, sleeping, running errands, etc...

I had two international roommates move in after two of my roommates left to go back to school. And when the internationals left to go back home, one left a brand new iron, a memory foam pillow, a fleece blanket, tons of snacks, shampoo and body wash (big bottles can't be on planes), and laundry soap. I felt bad that they couldn't take any of that stuff with them back home. So chances are if you really need something, someone will have it. Haha!

My list of stuff to bring is this..
Twin Size Bed Sheets
Twin Size Mattress Pad (one of the foam ones will be best)
Pillows
A comforter and a regular blanket
Low watt microwave
Mini Fridge ( I'd recommend having 2 in a room)
Towels (shower towels and beach towels)
Fan (depending on what housing you live in, if you're in the dorms, its not needed)
Phone Charger (forgot mine my first year and my dad ended up driving it up to me the next day)
Watch (make sure its water proof if you're gonna be working outside)
Good quality tennis shoes and shoe insoles (I had a pair of nikes that lasted me all summer and all halloweekends)
Entertainment (I brought my ps2 so I could watch DVDs! I also brought my laptop, just make sure you can lock it up somewhere)
Air fresheners
For clothing, You'll mostly be in your uniform however you'll probably need stuff like this
2 pairs of jeans
2 or 3 pairs of shorts
5 t-shirts
a couple tanktops
lots of underwear
1 swimsuit
lots and lots of socks
pajamas
1 or 2 hoodies (it does get cold in may!)
I also brought some of the cheap little rugs for my room and those were nice I thought. It also doesnt hurt to bring some things to decorate with. The plain walls get really boring, really fast!

Both my roommates brought irons. I don't think either one ever needed it.
I use wrinkle releaser. The generic kind works just as well as the name brand.

Don't get cheap shoes either. Trust me, they WILL wear out!!! Spend the extra money to get a GOOD pair of shoes.

Also, don't buy the ones from wardrobe. Your feet / ankles will thank you if you buy good pairs of shoes.

I applied for Marketing intern. The shoes I have are a whitish grey color.

They look just like this except the swoosh is white.
Think these would be ok?
Probably not. Grey is not white.
