What should I do?

Today I got a phone call from Cedar Point asking if I wanted to come back and be a Supervisor for Foods. I worked at Cedar Point the summer of 2003 in foods. Now heres my problem, I want to go back so bad, but I opened a Business which operates during the summer and I can leave it and have someone else (other business partner) run it and I go back to Cedar Point. Or should I just stay home and Run my Business which I have already Put about $25,000.00 into for the summer season. I just wanted to know what others would think. Thanks for reading

I would say talk to your business partner about it, and if he is willing and able to run it by himself it might be alright. On the other hand, new small businesses tend to require a lot of time and energy to keep afloat. 4 out of 5 small businesses fail in the first year. So basically, you know your own situation better than any of us, so you just have to assess your business' needs and make a decision based on that. *** Edited 3/30/2005 6:22:59 AM UTC by FrontierDale***

Yeah, if you have already made a commitment you should probably stick to it. It has to be tough to turn down the point though.

Thanks Guys, I think I might just stay here and just tell Cedar Point that I will be one of the Season Pass Holders.

Cedar Point Man...

Just wondering what location did you work at in foods in 2003?

If it's your business and you put money into it, be a grown up and run it. Don't leave your investment in the hands of someone else so you can work a minimum wage job with your friends.

Kristin I work at alot of locations in Area 3. I worked Frontier Inn, Los Gatos, Engine House, Round Up, and Stagebrush. I was maily at Frontier Inn

And As for Jeff Iam a Grown Up I just want to see what other thought. My mind has already been made up.

The decision is yours for what you do. IF it is a summer based business and that is when you are buisy, I would stick with the business you have right now. I have started a business that I can easily take to Cedar Point with me. Workes out a little better.

I agree and disagree.

Agree: On this front, you'll want to keep a watch on your business to make sure things are run the way you want to. I'm not sure how well you're payed during the job, but chances are it's more than the job at CP.

Disagree: You have a business partner for a reason. Hopefully this is a person you can trust with the job and such. Being an established business, you should still get some of the revenue from the job even when you're not there, since you own the business. As an investor and owner, this should be a given.

The question here would be how much of the $25,000 would you get back if you went to Cedar Point? You'd have to look at your projected income in both cases and see which one will be more beneficial. While the CP choice will undoubtedly get less money, if the difference isn't that great... maybe another year of memories at Cedar Point isn't such a bad idea?

Quick summary:

1. Is your business the type that will earn you money if you're away? If so, go to step 2. If not, stay in the city and run your business.

2. After looking at the income you'd make if you went to Cedar Point or stayed, does the income you make at Cedar Point hold a greater value? If so, go to Cedar Point, if not, go to step 3.

3. Is the difference in income between the two jobs great enough that it isn't worth it to go to Cedar Point? (Looking at opportunity cost of income and experience)

If so: run your business
If not: go to Cedar Point
