Hey FoF, it's hard to say for sure, but I worked the Sky Ride last season, were usually down for wind and heavy rain, we did have a lot of downtime, or on call time. Then again, our crew last year always made the best of it, we were usually shipped off to work somewhere else, another ride, the office, Town Hall,Traffic, Tolls, Park Admissions, you name it! I may be wrong but the Sky Ride did have a lot of down time last year, mainly for wind and rain, not to mention the operational and mechanical downtime that we had on top of that, that's for sure!
I think by and far the two rides that tie for being down the most was White Water Landing and Sky Ride. White Water was always broke or down for weather and Sky Ride couldn't operate in any wind above 2 mph...ok so that's an exaggeration but still.... :)

Yeah, Annie, we also had Operational downtime but you already know about that, don't you, lol!
Tigger, that's true, you guys were trying to compete with us for the most downtime last season, weren't you now?
Oh yes Bart..I know all about your operational....I have to know,,,How did you all call that in to Park Op???

Speaking as someone who had to keep track of all the downtime for the season I can tell you that you'd be surprised at which ride was actually down the longest. Of course it depends on if you're talking only mechanical downtime or operational downtime, or both. To give an example of how many rides go down on the average day, we usually get around 75 calls or so for rides going down. That's for ANY reason, slow guests, mechanical, AFR, transferring, etc. On a bad day we can double that. But of all those calls usually less than five will be for any extended period of time (more than 10 minutes) provided it's not for weather. So what I'm saying is that though your ride might have seemed to go down a lot during the season, it's like that all over the park. (Ok, with the exception of Camp Snoopy, unless of course you make the bus go backward!) As for which ride was actually down the longest for all reasons combined, I'd say Sky Ride would be a good bet due to all it's downtime for wind. But don't forget Millennium's little problem last season which had it down for several days.

Anybody wanna guess what next season's leader in downtime is going to be. Personally I'm voting for Demon Drop.

Cheers,
Jon

Wow Jon that's a lot. I probably should know this, but why would anyone call downtime for slow guests? I've heard of it but I don't understand why. :)

"Oh my God..WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!"

No ride at CP in the past two years has been down nearly as much as Son of Beast has been down, let's just put it that way.
Downtime can occur because of a slow guest on rides like Magnum and Gemini which set up when running three trains and the train is not dispatched within a reasonable amount of time.  On Magnum, if the train in the station isn't out in time (about 1:45 when normal interval is around 1:20), there is still a train on the ready breaks, causing the third train to come to screeching halt when it exits the third tunnel.  At this point we have to call Park Op and say that we are down loaded slow guest, send someone out underneath the lift, record this incident on the DOR and as soon as a supervisor calls back, the person in controls and under the lift can start the ride back up and call Park Op again to tell them that we are back up.  The whole process usually takes between 1 and 2 minutes.  The most I think it ever took was 3 or 4 when we were waiting for the call forever.
I'd say the ride with the most mechanical downtime was either Chaos or Demon Drop.  Sky Ride would have to be the choice overall because of all its wind related downtime.

Speaking of down time does anyone remember in 2000 when Magnum was down for a few days becaucse of the chain breaking?
Man-oh-man what a sight that was to see, I'll never forget that day.

"When it's all said and done
It's real and it's been fun.
But was it all real fun?"

I do remember Magnum's chain busting in 2000, and I also remember Dragon's chain busting last year. (Eddie was standing next to me when I took the call, you should have seen the look on his face when I told him. hee hee:) Of course neither compares to the ruckus caused by M.F.'s cable. I remember going to the Dutch and seeing an aerial video of the cars at the top of the hill. And of course getting 20,000 pissed off guests asking me when it would be running again, since it was the ONLY ride they drove 3000 miles to ride. All I've gotta say is if you really drive all that way just to ride one ride, then you're about the stupidest person I've ever met. (considering how many people used that line there must be a heck of a lot of stupid people out there.) Well that's my two-cents, I'm outta here.
Cheers
