I would tend to think that Cedar Fair has enough problems with the parks it has, and unless you want CF to go the way of Six Flags (a trend that these days doesn't seem too far off), I would hope that you'd be happier to see improvements to their own parks. I think it'd be a mistake to touch any SF park, and I would especially hope to NEVER see Holiday World or Kennywood owned by any amusement park chain, even CF. Part of the great charm of HW and KW is the fact that they are still independent (though I know KW has a few other parks now), and are plenty successful without a huge corporation or a dozen other parks to help it out.
From what I hear (not from personal experience), Knott's Berry Farm is a nightmare. Worlds of Fun seems to have been generally ignored (I wasn't impressed when I visited a couple years ago). Even Cedar Point could use some new philosophy changes (biggest and fastest don't cut it no more, people like shade trees, charm sells more than another Pespsi logo, riders are more sophisticated and smarter than they were 20 years ago, indoor air-conditioned rides are a great investment for a summer park, etc, etc).
Has the assimilation of great, old parks by Six Flags taught us nothing? *** Edited 8/29/2005 3:25:08 AM UTC by CoasterGuy78***
Any similarity in name is purely coincidental.
They should buy SFGA. That park is poorly managed, understaffed, and overcrowded. CF could turn that park into something fantastic that would bring me back to it and many other people in the area who are tired of the SF "experience". Also they should buy SFNE or Great Adventure as those are near a huge market, just like SFGA. SFMM wont be for sale because its their flagship even though they are broke.
I think you would all be happy if CF only bought X and moved it to CP. Look at the SF website, they are really desperate with 25$ online tickets. *** Edited 8/29/2005 4:47:25 AM UTC by SFGA=toilet***
Like someone said before, a park like HW would be completely destroyed by a large park chain. The park's charm and character would be trown out the window. It is one of the few independent parks that have really been sucessful the last 5 years. The place has 2 very highly rated wooden coasters and looks to be getting a winner next year (The Voyage is one of those coasters like MF which will be a hit before the thing even opens).
The amusement park industry isn't doing well right now, SF is for sale, CF isn't doing its best, and Paramount Parks aren't shineing much either. CF should leave the market of buying more parks before they hurt something (CP, DP, KBF). If they by any chance actually want another park I'd choose SFGA. CF seems to do well in the midwest.

OK... let me rephrase my previous post. The only reason I said Holliday World is because its a nice little park that has a GREAT woodie being built. That and the fact that EVERYONE is saying SF parks when it is perfectly clear that you cannot buy only one but the whole company. Just trying to throw a little variety into the mix.
Thinking it over... CoasterGuy78 and Gomez... you're both right... thats what makes HW such a cute park, the fact that it IS still independently owned; and that its not a corperate magnet.
