I will not be getting the passes for next year. For a family of five it is just too much for us. I will be getting the six flags passes and revolving my vacations around those parks. Cedar fair will not be getting my 2 full weeks of spending at resorts and in park. It will also give us a chance to visit other parks that we have not been to yet. I don't think for a single person or a couple $200 is a bad deal for passes. I just can't afford it for a family. This will be the first time in many years not to have a season pass to cp.
lol @ Opal Covey-Land. One day she will turn Toledo into a beautiful amusement park. I just don't think it'll be a day on Earth.
For the first time, we're actually at risk of "losing money" on our Platinum Pass purchase, as we may not be able to find the time to visit for HW.
That said, we still find value in knowing that we can go whenever, so we'll still likely renew for next season.

That some people won't buy at the higher price is factored into the decision to raise the price. Presumably they determined that there is more profit for the company with the increased price (including the lost revenue from those people who won't buy at the higher price).
I'm barely going enough this year to make mine worth it. Depends on if I can find time to get up to Worlds of Fun or not.
Mine was like $208 when you figured in the fee, so I think $194 or $193 was the actual pass price.
It's amazing how cheap Six Flags sells their passes. My gold pass renewal will be $74.90 or so because I'm considered out of market for Six Flags over Texas. Definitely got use out of that pass.
Why doesn't Cedar Fair create a diamond pass? Price it like $500 and give it even better perks like fast pass all season long? I know this will open that whole can of worms of people wanting to feel equal in a society where we are far from equal, but it's just a thought. Those that want real perks, pony up the cash. $500 doesn't seem unreasonable, and I would even consider it if I still lived in Michigan.
What was the renewal price for last year? A new Platinum Pass was $164. So it's just an increase of $16.
I like the idea of getting a Platinum for parking alone. We did enjoy the perk of visiting other parks this year but I can't see doing that every summer. Has anyone heard if Wildwater Kingdom will remain open for next season? That will actually sway me to renew the Platinum option or not.
Thanks!
Wild Water Kingdom has 2014 season passes for sale on it's site. So it appears they will be open at this time.
Every year, I break down the cost so if I get the season pass for $XX.00, then I would need to go to CP XX of times to pay for the pass. I also go to MI Adventure as well, so I sometimes factor that trip in too.
I don't see the big deal here, it is an investment to a company that puts in a lot of money for new rides and renovations so I won't complain about an increase. If they didn't do any renovations or add any rides EVER, then I would complain.
Cedar Point, Americas rip- rockin', high flyin', sky defyin', record breakin' roller coast
Even with the 16 dollar increase on platinum passes for next yr,some things are just necessary. Like a good nights sleep and many trips to Cedarpoint & Kings Island. I agree, good investment!
I am still waiting for the Crude Oil Pass to emerge. I will have all the Platinum perks, FP+++, plus valet parking - for only $1000 more!
Checked at the park friday evening, my 'senior' pass goes up $25, from 92 to 117.

Sheesh. I couldn't imagine reading about how you felt back when you HAD to buy a Cedar Point pass, a Kings Island pass, and a Six Flags pass to do essentially what you can do in Ohio today, minus Geauga Lake of course.
Now a days all you have to do is buy a Platinum Pass and a Six Flags pass and you have access to pretty much every major regional park in each metropolitan area for a year. I don't think that's a bad deal.
Face it, Cedar Fair sees that it can raise the price of the Platinum Pass because guests see the value in it and will still pay for it. Or they really are trying to price people out due to park crowding.

Disney is now charging $609 for their yearly pass to all the parks in Florida --- and look what their patrons can look forward to...

Somehow, I just don't feel that the "all that Ohio has to offer" Platinum Pass mentioned above, is somehow worth a third of what they are getting in Florida.
And you don't have to drive clear across the state to visit the various gates.
If you constituted their entire market, then Cedar Fair would have cause for concern.
It seems to me Cedar Fair wouldn't put price increases in place without first analyzing how their market would react.
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.
You guys don't appreciate how good you have it with a Platinum Pass. A ski resort I frequent charges $910 for a season pass, and the season is shorter than CP's. A Cedar Fair Platinum Pass is an absolute bargain compared to some other activities.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I have a Premium Pass for WDW and a Platinum Pass for Cedar Point. I do the math and make sure I get my money's worth. Discounts on hotels etc. add up quickly. The WDW pass is good for a year while Cedar Point is a season. I do not live in Ohio (born there) or Florida so I have to consider travel costs.
Cedar Point is close enough for long weekends and is our preferred park.
