Just outta curiosity, has anyone on this site actually seen Intamin's recommendation/directive that Cedar Point is following, all the while stating that it MUST do so to conform with state law?
I don't suppose that Cedar Point, as a private business, would produce this document. HOWEVER, if the Ohio Revised Code requires a ride operator to conform with a manufacturer's directive/recommendation, then surely there must be a paper trail somewhere within the bowels of the state of Ohio's bureaucracy.
It would seem that something would be on file with the Ohio Department of Agriculture, which regulates amusement rides. If it's on file, it's a matter of public record under state law.
I'm not suggesting that Cedar Point has miscontrued the contents of the Intamin directive. However, I think it would be interesting to see what it actually says, in the words of those Swiss geniuses.
It would be interesting to see where the slack rule (which is causing the most problems) originated from. People on here and Cbuzz have said Xcelerator already had such a rule, so was that Cedar Fair or Intamin? People are also reporting that the S:ROS’s are not requiring a inch of slack, albeit their restraints are modified., One inch is such an ambiguous number and defiantly not precise engineering.
Also, Since the thing was engineered by those "Swiss clowns" (I like that one ), shouldn’t be something like 2 centimeters instead of these medieval measurements ;)
As for the seat belts themselfs, why even before this year were people reporting that Intamin rides in other parks have longer belts? It would be interesting to hear the answers to all this.
Every little bit they take away, the more and more people get turned away. It starts effecting a larger number of people as they move down the "norm,"as more people are closer to that. If women who wear a size 14 are having problems, which is not particularly large my any means, they are damn near insisting that you have to be in perfect shape to ride.

Ever heard of the accidents in 1990? A dude jumped out of the ferris wheel and died and some other chick attempted suicide on the log flume. This is not a negative comment towards you, its just a statement. I don't wanta sound like an ass but thats the truth.

In May, 1990, a teenage couple visited the park, where the girlfriend broke up with the boyfriend. The boyfriend was distraught. He decided to ride the Giant Wheel. While at the top, it seems his loss got the best of him, as he unstrapped his seat belt, opened the door, and jumped to his unfortunate demise. This incident occurred at 12 noon.
Meanwhile, it looks like 1990 must have been a tense year in northern Ohio, as White Water Landing is the site of a story similar to the one that you've not yet heard. Gee, this narrative is getting complicated! Anyway, on with the story. It seems that a girl broke up with her boyfriend during the spring while at the park. In this case, the girl was distraught. She attempted to commit suicide by jumping out of her boat while at the top of White Water Landing. The girl survived, although I imagine that she wasn't feeling all that good!

sieve72: You might be able to find the truth if you actually went to an "offical" website, but I'll have to admit, even if it was on cedarpoint.com, I still wouldn't believe it.
