What I'd really like to see done with Demon Drop

e x i t english's avatar

I don't mean to start another "OMG DEMON DROP IS SINKINGFFF" or whatever thread, but I thought this would make for some interesting discussion.

I'd really love if CF would send it to Geauga Lake.

Now, before you jump on me, I know about Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall.

I also know that it[mr. hyde's] rides like a POS and, albeit better this year, still bangs around way too much to be comfortable on the return to the station.

Maybe it doesn't make any sense to replace MHNF with the same ride, but I think with its history and the way the ride is running, some place in Chile or Bulgaria would be more than happy to introduce it as their new thrill ride.

Perhaps they could just swap cars/mechanical parts?

thoughts?

^ well, yeah but I'm just sayin' :)

I love 1st generation freefalls more than any S&S tower ever constructed, but I'd love to see it replace the one at Geauga Lake if they're going to get rid of it.

The Fascination game is coming back on the site of the Demon Drop. :)

I agree, if the DD is not sold it will not be replaced in 2006. Maybe in the future, when the ride has no reason to be there.

Quote from edwards in the article on main page:

"By clearing out that land, it could give us additional land for improvement projects," although nothing is in the works for that property, Edwards said.

"If we can sell it, we will sell," he said. "If not, we will keep it."

Doubt it.

"By clearing out that land, it could give us additional land for improvement projects," although nothing is in the works for that property, Edwards said.

And doubt it again.

FINALLY.....found out what name Dick Kinzel posts under on these boards. We finally got him to slip up, but we got him. Only (A) DICK would know that what was released wasn't true and that for sure Demon Drop would be gone.

Thank God we got all that cleared up. So now we know that a DICK K. posts under the name j2k95sunfire (would think he'd drive something fancier, he must like the fuel economy). And that for sure SOMETHING must be in the plans for that property and that Demon Drop is outta here.

J2K and VIN: read the damn thread you morons.

I never said "OMG DEMON DROP IS GONE UBIHVUJVBOIBU".

What i did say is: Since Demon Drop is in much better shape than Mr. hydes nasty fall, rather than selling that outright, I'd like to see them move it to Geauga Lake and sell mr. hydes to a park somewhere in chile or bolivia or whatever. What's so hard to comprehend about that?

Get a clue before you start trying to show me up by posting in my threads with your "I know so much about CP" posting because I'll put you in your places faster than you could ever put me in mine.

Relax, dude. No one attacked you. If you're looking for a one-sided conversation and you want no one to disagree with you, try a blog. If you think someone missed your point, there are a lot nicer ways of bringing the focus back.

Until your post, I didn't see anyone trying to be a know-it-all. But feel free to put me in my place in that regard if you want.

First and last warning on the inappropriate attacks.

If they must move it from its current location, I think it would fit in nicely somewhere in FrontierTown. A new paint color and some light theming to a mine shaft would be excellent.

As long as it stays somewhere on the Point I'm happy. :)

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

Great idea Mill

I hate to be a party pooper, but remember the initial word that broke all of this...

"...officials from the city of El Paso were at Cedar Point last week researching the park and a roller coaster there that's for sale."

Ok, so, they got the "roller coaster" part wrong, but it's still a somewhat major attraction. I'm guessing John Q. Paperwriter doesn't know the diff between an Intimin and a B&M, let alone have full info on business dealings between the city and a MAJOR amusement park, so we can forgive the coaster reference.

The ride is for sale. If it were to be moved to another part of the park, or even another CF joint, it wouldn't have a price tag on it.

Yeah, it sucks, and everyone can spitball about the best place in frontiertown or GL or a man-made island in the middle of Erie to put it, but all of this talk about keeping it in the CF family is REALLY starting to depress me. I love the ride, but face the facts. Learn to cope with loss. Unless nobody buys DD (which would honestly surprise me, as it seems to be in better shape than Hyde), it ain't gonna stay in one of the main parks.

If you want to ride it after the next 1-3 years (just a guess), I hope you have the cash for a plane ticket to Texas. That, or enjoy PT for what it is.

(If it isn't obvious, as far as "coping with loss" goes, I've moved on to the "acceptance" stage. I don't like it anymore than the rest of you do, but it's going to happen, sooner or later.)

And, DemonDroppin', guess you'll have to change to "DemonDropped." :(

In all seriousness, I feel your pain. DD and Jr. are a few of my first memories of CP.

"Demon Dropped?" that'll be a hard name change to get used to.
Scooter, according to your profile, you were born exactly one week before me. I too have so many happy memories of Demon Drop as a little kid. And Kid Arthur's Court, Avalanche Run, Mill Race and so on. I've adjusted to the "death" of those rides, but DD will take sometime in "mourning" to get over.

The Amazement Park

I like the FrontierTown idea as well, if it was going to be themed appropriately but unfortunately think it will go away.

"And let's also not forget--let's not forget, Dude--that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city--that isn't legal either. "

Get used to the progression of life, guys. You'll likely see the death of your Grandparents, Parents and a few CP rides in the span of your lifetime.

I don't like that fact either, but there is absolutly nothing that any of us can do to change that.

Deal.

Yeah! The cargo-net climb in Kid Arthur's? Avalanche Run on one of the last trips I went on with my best friend as a kid before he moved to NY... Mill Race with my uncle every year...

I think at our age, going to CP as a kid, we had some of the best times to remember. It seems like there was a major revamp of at least the front of the park, as far as attraction removal goes, right around the time we really started "growing up."

Good times. :) *** Edited 8/18/2005 10:04:30 PM UTC by scooter1979***

I never said anyone was attacking me, but I'm pretty sure putting bolded quotes from Brian Edwards about how "Demon drop isn't going anywhere" and then saying "doubt it" (AKA "told you so") as if I didn't already know that is pretty idiotic and shows me that they didn't even bother to read over my post.

Sure, I may have no tolerance for idiots and I may tend to come out and show it, but at least I read, and comprehend what someone's trying to say before calling them out on it.

People make mistakes, and I can tolerate that, but when people's whole point is to go around and post completely well-known facts that aren't in any way related to the original post, I have a problem with that.

That's like me saying that I'd like McDonald's to bring back the McRib, and then someone saying "Dude, that sandwich went away like 2 years ago you know!!" No need to state the obvious when that was sort of a given in the original statement.
