What happened to Monty Jasper?

What happened to Monty Jasper? I loved his step by step construction updates on Wicked Twister and especially on the Millennium Force. Is he still working for CP? We could really use him on the tales of #16 construction.

Well, I don't know the man's job status (I'd assume he still works there), but we haven't had diary entries for this ride because that's not the PR angle CP is going for this time around. It's possible, though unlikely, that he'll return to the website after the announcement. However, by that point, they may very well have the structure complete.
The first diary entry from Monty on WT was the day it was announced. I'm not sure about MF, but it was announced on july 22nd. I'm sure He'll start doing the entrys for #16 as soon as they annouce it. I heard something about them announcing in in a couple weeks, but very few actualy know. [I find the january announcement as credibility as the september announcement hypothisis]

I suspect that he has made many construction enties, and as soon as the ride is announced, they will be posted. They will all be after the fact, but it's still ifo about the construction. I suspect the same with the construction photos.

Launch: Tophat: Twistage: Brakes...

...Denial is an ugly thing.

I miss his entries too...too bad CP cant just announce the damn thing...

I do not understand why Monty can not (or does not) make posts occassionally, and I wish he would. His posts IMO could even fuel speculation. Since there are cameras pointed at the site, and the web site itself poses the question *what is it*

I do not understand why select facts or observations could not be officially made by the park, and I wish they would.

Just like the saying, "give them an inch, and they'll want to take it a mile..." Well, they are giving people the means to see the construction, and those people are speculating like mad. The free publicity for CP is gold.

Monty we know you are here somewhere! You have to be!! And we all know you are dying to let the cat out of the bag! So how about just a liitle info please!! We wont tell anyone we promise! :) (fingers crossed) :)

That free publicity is slowly running out as more and more people, like me, just don't care anymore. I return every so often to check for an update, but that's where it ends. I'm no longer having fun guessing. What's there left to guess anyway? Where the lines will be? We've discussed every possible aspect of the ride, in quite some detail at that.

They've held it out long enough. I'm just irritated now.

Monty is still there. If you watch the video on this site you will see him on the construction site. http://www.woio.com/Global/story.asp?S=973183

I feel the same way to Anon, I almost feel as if we are being "played" by the Point. They enjoy watching us all post here and other places across the web, they enjoy the news choppers flying over every other week trying to get the scoop. As for me,I have quit looking at their website and have almost quit reading this board since it has become just a lot of petty bickering among users and endless, pointless speculation.

I just don't want to give CP the satisfaction anymore, when it's on the news and they say what it is,that'll be just fine. I'll remember all of this when I'm in the park next year too, I'll remember how long they strung us all along when it comes time to buy food or drink or play games in the park or to buy tickets at full price.

He is still around.... but he cant go off talking about a ride that has not been announced yet.
Didn't his last entry say "See you in a couple of years"?
Date: May 10, 2002 Entry: Time to ride! By: Monty JasperMonty Jasper ,
Vice President of Maintenance and Construction Wicked Twister is now open for business, and I couldn't be happier. All the reviews coming in are positive, and the ride's running like a champ. Personally, my favorite part of riding is the launch, when the coaster virtually leaps out of the station. But the spinning at the top of the towers is a lot of fun too! Don't let me influence your opinion, though. Make sure you visit Cedar Point this summer to try out Wicked Twister for yourself. By the way, even non-riders are stopping by the Wicked Twister plaza to watch Cedar Point's 15th roller coaster in operation. With a nice cool breeze coming off the lake, I predict it'll be one of the most popular places at the park this summer. Meanwhile, we're in the final stages of renovating the former Cedar Point Cinema and getting ready to turn it over to the Live Entertainment Department so rehearsals can begin the first week in June. We're installing motors to hoist the scenery and setting the dressing rooms. The surface the ice will be formed on is ready, but there's no ice yet. But when the ice is down and needs resurfacing, we'll be ready. We've got a tractor equipped with a Zamboni unit that will be used between shows to ensure that Snoopy has a nice smooth surface to skate on. Anyhow, this is the end of the trail for the Wicked Twister construction diary. Thanks for making the trip with me, and maybe I'll be talking to you again in a couple years.
I don't get how people can say that CP is "stringing us along" or "playing" us in any way. So they haven't announced it yet. Okay, but they didn't force you to spend hours and hours here engaged in endless speculation about the ride.

Its not even like they've been releasing news release after news release, teasing us along. All they've done is point some webcams at the thing, and say they're building a new thrill ride. How is that manipulative?

No, if you're angry with CP for your spending so much time talking about this ride, then the blame lies entirely and solely on yourself.

Yeah, I'm hoping for the same thing. I have found Monty's posts/diary quite interesting.

I'm also in the category of being annoyed. I don't feel that I've been manipulated in any way though. That's just pretty absurd to think.
woah, where'd the rest of my post go? does that happen often. it just kinda chopped half my post off?
the rest of my post...

I am however annoyed and have lost interest in the contruction of this ride. I don't feel the need to check up on the web cams as often, I see less and less interesting info on this board, due to the fact that we've done a pretty good job of picking this thing a part and nailing it right on the head. I dunno, I've just lost the interest to speculate, not to say that anyone else should stop, just sayin that I've gotten bored with the situation. I'm just excited to ride the thing now. Hopefully the lines won't be too long. If so then I'll be doing everyone a favor by stepping over to Millie's line and letting all the hardcores spend a 1/4 of a day to ride #16. Would any of you actually wait 6 hours to ride #16, or any ride for that matter? If not, what's the most you'd wait? Just curious. But enough with my useless post. Carry on with business as usual.

Peace I'm Out
