WHAT HAPPENED?

I went on WT my 20th time Tue. 8/10. It has always been my favorite ride in the park since it was fast, launched, and smooth. Wait. Did I say smooth? I thought the ride was always smooth. I went on it last on 5/28 and since then it felt like a bomb hit the ride. I can't tell you how disapointed I am. The ride was so bumpy it wreaked the ride. Even the group I was with said the ride wasn't the same. I had a smoother ride on Mean Streak and Corkscrew that day.

The ride open at 11pm and closed around 5pm. So I hope they find a cure for the bumpiness, or my favorite ride is now the worst in my book. I'm sure it was something to do this the wheels but man it was rough. I think I even notice one of the wheels weren't even touching the track on the front tower.

So, I'm just asking if anybody has any clue of what happened or what's wrong with my former favorite ride? Or if someone else noticed this once great ride turned bumpy?

I highly doubt it was bumpier than Mean Streak, Corkscrew, or Magnum for that matter. I just rode it 2 weeks ago and it seemed as smooth as Millennium Force and Dragster. I can't imagine it has gotten as bad as you say it has in two weeks since I've been on it. Perhaps you had a bad ride or something because I haven't seen or heard of anyone thinking it was too bumpy...or bumpy at all. *** Edited 8/11/2004 5:48:12 PM UTC by S2Kster***

I might be lying about the Mean Streak and Corkscrew. But the ride that day was far from being Intamin smooth. I talked to some friends who rode the ride before me and said the same thing. If you read other post I made in the past I had nothing bad to say about the ride but now is a different story.

I was there Mon. 8/9 and I didn't notice it being bumpier. It was just as smooth as Dragster and Millennium.

America's Rockin Roller Coast

If they closed it at 5:00 pm I'd guess there was a maitenance issue causing the rough ride. I just rode it 08/08 and it was smooth as glass.
You know if you sit in the front seat and look at the wheels at some point during the ride, they kinda look funny... they almost seem to be shaking a bit.

That's weird I just took ride 70 last week and I didn't notice anything. I sat in the back as always and didn't notice any roughness what so ever.

I've had mostly smooth rides but also a few rougher rides. But, even the rougher ones are pretty smooth. I think sometimes a big gust of wind comes off the lake and shakes the train a little bit since it is mostly side to side motion.

When I was there on 8-8 it was down half the day too. I saw that they were wrenching on the right side wheels most of the time i was lookin. After it got back up was about 5 or 6 I couldn't tell the difference.
Wicked Twister has experienced some down time this year. I've never seen it down before....

Millennium Force Crew 2007
Raptor Crew 2008

I sat towards the back on Monday and Tuesday the 8th & 9th. I didn't notice any excessive shaking (though they were my only rides on it). It was down Wednesday - Friday though. I was on the SkyWheel on Friday and it looked like there was plastic covering on the big green electrical boxes...almost like they had replaced them or something.
What happened? It is sinking like Magnum, making it a rougher ride. ;)
The sand must be settling, making the supports and the ride buckle. So that's what is making it bumpy;). Though, I did notice it down on the 11th and 12th, so I guess it could've been a wheel problem or something, but that's just a guess.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

It's not sinking!!!!!!!! Why does everyone say that if the ride was sinking it wouldn't be open right now. It's a joke!!!!! *** Edited 8/17/2004 3:39:13 PM UTC by Ary*** *** Edited 8/17/2004 3:39:41 PM UTC by Ary***

I can't understand what everyone is complaining about. I rode it twice (front and back row) this past Sunday and didn't notice a difference from when I rode it in July or even last year. What part of the ride do you think is bumpy, launch?

The Amazement Park

The front spike seemed to be a little bumpy, that had never happened when i rode it many times before.

Dude, no its not. Its a conspiracy because otherwise Cedar Point would lose their coaster record. Magnum has been sinking for years, but around 95 they installed jacks under all the support anchors so that they can keep it level. It was even worse for Avalanche Run, why do you think they moved it indoors? The building hides all the work they have to do to keep it from falling over. You'll start to see an effect on WT in another year or two, where it will start pointing out to the lake. Don't be suprised if in 2006 Cedar Point builds three massive coasters so that they can remove those without any loss of the record.

Since when are rollercoasters supposed to be "smooth"? Most "unsmooth" ride at that park as everyone should know is the Mean streak...but thats why i love it! (plus is wood so...) But smooth or not, just enjoy the ride its supposed to be exciting!

I found the launch accelerations much rougher than I ever noticed and the towers weren't the smoothest neither. The ride must of had a problem for it to be down the following days. I love WT more than any roller coaster in the world but when I go on my 20th ride on my favorite coaster I expect it to be just as good as my rides before it. It wasn't and I want to bring attention to the roughness on a ride that is usually as smooth as glass.
