Personally I wish they would get rid of the building because it just looks better without it.

I was thinking the exact same thing. If they're gonna build an indoor coaster, at least make it a fun one.

Where would we be without CP?:)

What ever happened to the large screen video projecters, simiulated lasers, 2 life like robots, and the rest of the 150 props? Or are they just turned off?

do you guys know about the coaster called 'Jumbo Jet' and what ever happened to it?

There are some old pics of it in the gallery. I think it was on the same site as Avalance Run (or in that general area). But I never heard why it was removed. Anyone know?

I'm the product of a summer romance: My parents met at CP in '75!

Twister 2, the large screen is still there. It has lights shining on it though instead of a simulated explosion. The robots might be in storage somewhere. I'd like to see them return perhaps during Halloweekends as do the old Pirate Ride animatronics. The other 150 props? Well, I'd imagine most of those are scattered around the building, lifeless.

Why hasn't Cedar Point ever mentioned what it's done with old Disaster Transport props? Lack of interest/relevance?

I'm too lazy to do it, but run a SEARCH on the site and you will find a few threads with information regarding JUMBO JETS. You are correct the ride was located around the Disaster Transport area of today. It was removed before the 1979 season partly because the ride was a maintenance nightmare.

Be sure to also visit Mr. Gemini's website for photos and other info regarding Jumbo Jets.

It was a great ride and alot of fun to ride.

Jumbo Jet: was that the one that had a spiral lift hill and the cars self-powered themselves up?? now i wasnt even a plan in 1979, but my father has told me about his times on this ride. didnt you sit in a straight row, with no harnesses, similar to the way you sit on White Water Landing? and what was after the lift? all i ever get to see is pictures of the lift...

"One word: DAMN!" - Large Man Exiting Dragster
Phantom's Revenge? DELICIOUS!
TTD: 6

Actaully i was waiting in line for dragster, and i was talking to Benjamin, he had just been transferred to Top Thrill Dragster, and was still wearing a DT uniform... the ride broke down so i was talkin to him, and he said he had to do track walks, The mentinance lights were on in the rooms, but the tunnels were pitch black, Walking the track you get grease caked up on the bottom of you shoes, which he still had some to show me... he said the robots are basically all still there... they dont work, and most of the theming is just sitting there useless

A strange "DT" experience...

We were waiting in line and for some reason we weren't moving at all. All of a sudden, a "DT" worker came running through the lines, literally running, and shouting to everyone to not panic. Of course, everyone panicked. So, we weren't sticking around. We took the leisure of leaving the building through the nearest exit door (which quite ridiculously was fenced in). So after finding our way out of the fence, we were out of the building.

What a way to strike chaos, by shouting to guests not to panic. The whole building evacuated through that exit after us.

What's with that?

What is "TORR"?

It's basically just a gigantic building with the ride inside......exactly what you'd expect it to look like. Although, most people dont' realize that the area with the movie screen can be seen from ground level. You are actually quite high up during that section of the ride.

I had the privelage of doing a trough walk (not track walk ;-)) on one of the days I worked over there. Yes, those tunnels are pitch black, you're glad to have flashlights. And yes, those troughs do have grease and you really have to watch where you step as not to slip (mostly from the worn areas of metal). The thing that surprised me most is how steep certain areas of the trough are. Coming out of the lift hill, and the last block brake are very steep, hard to climb up them, especially with the slick trough.
