What does it look like inside DT

I have always wondered about what DT looked like when lights were on inside. also i have always been curious of the layout of it, and pretty much 'behind the scenes' of it.. does anyone know where i could find pictures?

Well there are pictures of the ride before it was turned into Disaster Transport in the gallery.

What I want to know is if all the old props that don't work inside the actual ride are still there.

I used to have a nice shot of the ride with the house lights on but unfortunately I have seemed to misplace that. :(

It looks like a warehouse inside.

What is "TORR"?

This year DT seems to be more lighted up inside which kind of disapoints me because I like it very dark. But now in one of the big rooms you can kind of see everything in the room better.

I personally thought that the ride was darker this year.

What I do love in DT are the tubes because it is completely dark. So the surprise turns really are fun.

During coastermania we rode it with the lights on. The track is black with the paint coming off, it was still dark inside even with the lights on. In that main helix room, you can't see the floor below, there is some sort of cloth coming from a center pole that the lights are on that sreate the starfield effect. You can still see the big screen that used to show fake explosions on it. I saw that piece that looks like a part of a space craft that is in this picture. There is some old theming that you can't even normally see now, but isn't that special anyway. That's pretty much it.

I would love to see Disaster Transport with the lights on.

Hey, what are the props/effects on the first drop?

I rode it with the lights on during Coastermania, twice. There was some cardboard cut-outs in the first room (when the drop first starts). To be honest, the spaceships looked like something you would see from Star Wars. The room at the base of the hill was empty. In the main room, you could see the screens on the side, some asteriod stuff, and acouple spare pieces of theming. Under the track was just nothing; I did see some boxes, probably for storage. The room before Alaska was empty, and Alaska was Alaska. It was fun to ride it with the lights on and would love to do it again. I excepted more objects to be in the building, however. I did attempt to take pictures, but none of them came out.

I dont know why they just dont spend the money to restore it to the way it first was when they first opened it as disaster transport. i wish i could get a chance to ride it with the lights on sometime.

On another note, what do you guys know about the coaster called 'Jumbo Jet' and what ever happened to it?

Yes, I too wish they could find the extra time (and money) to fix it up. You think they would at least replace the burnt out light bulbs from the show lights in the line, considering how much money was spent on them.

What is "TORR"?

I rode it twice during Coastermania with the lights on. Interesting notes was the pile of feathers that was at the top of the lift hill on the left hand side. Also the other item I found interesting was the blockers they had throughout most of the ride so the trains wouldn't go to far up the sides of the trough.

no, its not a great ride, MeanStreaker. remember the shirt? the only reason anyone should ride Disaster Transport is for the air conditioning. even Dick Kinzel said it was a "dog ride"...

I was going to ride it during Coastermania, but they closed it right before I got to the ride. :(

He he he , as part of the 2002 disater transport crew I got to see the ride with and without the lights on. Its pretty cool doing block tests in the morning with the lights on and a shuttle zooming right past you.

And I was able to lose several pounds last summer from having to do a track walk almost every day.

Did you still have to wear the white painter suit looking things when you walked the track? Spiral staircases with the metal mesh bottoms in low light with a flashlight... so much fun!
Here ya go http://www.virtualmidway.com/history/attractions/avalancherun.asp thats pics of Disaster Transport when it was not inclosed and name "Avalanche Run" you can get a pretty good idea of the layout.... your welcome

Personally I wish they would get rid of the building because it just looks better without it.
