What do you think the public's reaction will be?

Sure, we're excited (some a little too excited) about this thing, but what do you think Joe Sixpack's reaction will be? Do you think there will be an extraordinary number of people who will look at this thing and say "HECK NO!"?

As a side note, do you think any of the north coast media outlets will run an "Is it safe?" type story?

Just curious what everyone's opinion is.

There will be a lot that say, "Holy ****! I've gotta ride that!" and less that say, "OMG, I'm not going on that!"

Even so, the lines will be as long as MF's during its opening year.

I was in line for Magnum once and I started talking to a lady who thought that MF was too tall to ride. I tried to convince her otherwise, but I don't think it worked. There will be a lot of people who won't ride, but there will be a lot who come from far away just to ride. As far as the safty news story, people will say anything is unsafe just to get published. The coasters that exsist today get articles written about them and I am sure someone will point out this ride as too extreem.

They will probably ride when no one is looking though. ;)

There is no way that I am gonna go anywhere near that thing! Besides my fear of heights and roller coasters, it just can't be safe!! And why do people even pay money just put their lives in danger?!?!? I don't Cee da Point (pun intended)

I think the public will like it. A lot of people who visit Cedar Point are looking for big and extreme rides. Not everyone are those "Oh no, that's not safe. You will never get me on that thing!" type of people.

"Roller Coaster 1 looks too intense for me."

I think the publics reaction will be huge. They will more than likely get a huge amount of publicity out of this, just like they did with Millennium Force.

The reaction of the ride and the PR will be HUGE. No question. Looking at the down side of the tower today, I am not convinced the ride will be as huge as MF was. I suspect a larger percentage of the GP will not ride it.

I also think the only people qualified to comment on the GPs reaction are those that have actually seen the ride structure in October. The pictures just do not do it justice. You can get VERY close to the tower, since it is in the middle of the park - AND - you will be able to see the entire first drop from inside the park - unlike Magnum and MF. I honestly think the GPs reaction (or more specifically, ridership) will be different than MF or Magnum, and significantly less.

By how long the lines are for MF, you couldn't tell that people are affraid to ride the big boys. It will be the same way for #16. I would rather have people not ride it, so that the lines are shorter for me, but that is bad. If people don't come to the park to ride then the park makes less money and that means not as many new rides. The trick is find when the people aren't there.

Regardless weather people ride it or not, people will go in droves to CP in 2003 just to see it. By no means did I mean to imply there wont be plenty of people lining up to ride #16. The lines will be long. I just think there will be just as many people milling around watching, rather than riding.

The down side is starting to look absolutely insane and very intimidating, IMO. I think this is much different than Superman at MM. Going up and falling backwards on a very thick track and structure, is totally different than 16.

Well this is what I think: If you took a poll of random Americans, you would find that several of those who would ride a hyper, would not consider getting on this ride. But a lot of the people who go to CP are not "normal." We are coaster enthusiasts, and I mean the big coaster kind. Especially the people who go to CP alot. Those people will flock to CP in droves and there will be no shortage of riders. I do know a lot of people though that would never consider getting on this ride who do ride "normal" coasters. I have heard it said before that parks do not cater to the enthusiasts. While this is not a "Raven type ride" that some enthusiasts love but offer no wow effect for the GP, it is sort of catering to the taste of the "CP enthusiasts" while at the same time getting the publicity that CP is looking for.

Hahaha. Not only do you keep coming back, CPNu, I mean SeederPoi, whatever...you don't even like coasters (if we are to believe you, which is REALLY hard to do). That just takes the (pan)cake.

I suppose your next SN will be Cee da Point...?

Anywho, back to the topic. I agree with Tom - yes the lines will be long, but there will be more people than at any other ride ever opened at CP who will just be standing around looking and thinking "No sir. No sir-ree-bob." I still think it will be a success, but I think MF and Magnum will still be the crowd favorites.

Someone leaves a well-planned, well-thought out idea and all you do is bash them for 1 spelling mistake that im sure even YOU could figure out. Some people just like to ruin things I guess.

This is THE ride that will test a true coaster buff's bravery. The residents' reactions:

"D***!"

"They get crazier each year."

"This won't attract people! It'll scare'm"

Coaster buffs' reactions:

"D***!"

"Thank you coaster gods!"

"141 days, um, 30 minutes, um, and 12 seconds until it opens! 141 days..."
