What do you think of the employess?

So i don't know if this topic has been presented here or not before. I just wanted to know how everyone felt out there about us cedar point employees. Feel free to post any good experiences or bad experience or anything that you think needs improvements.

Feel free to stop by and say hi to me. I should be floating around the food wagons either by MF, PT or both.
Cp employes are nice, kind, and helpful.
I dont understand why people say the opps. on Mantis arent nice, they where helpful to me last summer.

I have never had one prob/complaint about ANY of the employees at CP - they have always been extrememely friendly-helpful-kind-patient-funny.
I have met several of them (thats what happens when you ride Raptor 176x in one season) and some of them have even kept in contact with me thru the winter! I never had a prob with any of the Mantis ops either.
We ALL as the paying public have to remember that the employees at CP work VERY VERY hard-they do not have the comfort of working simply 9-5 and their day is over-many many times they are told that day or that second they will be working extra hours. So PLEASE keep that in mind if an employee is not all smiles or as "friendly" as you may like.....
its not personal
it may be that employees 14th hour and 10,000 guest for the day!
I am curious to see some of the posts here too--
I am SOO determined to be a great ride op when my time comes! Woo Hoo!

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
I thought that the Magnum crew has been fantastic for the last few seasons. I hope that team is staying together for the new season. Raptor, Mantis, & Mean Streak teams were great, too! Blue Streak didn't have the same ops in 99 that they had in 98..but they were great too. I know all the CP staff work alot of long hours...they don't get to enjoy the park like the rest of us "guests". I always try to keep that in mind when I visit my favorite place on earth.
I loved the employees so much I made one my girlfriend. Generlly for someone like me I love the emplyees. I have made so many great friends and to see them year in and year out is a real treat. Then its great when they stay and get promoted to sups. and things like that.

Last year I ran into a very rude cashier at the souvenir stand between Magnum and Corkscrew. I have never been treated with such rudeness and wish that I would have been able to find a supervisor. I did however ride to CP when I got home and told them exactly what happened, the time and date included. I fully expected a reply but receive nothing, I was very surpised. I have also written to commend many employees. After going to Cedar Point for over 30 years this was the only time that I ran into a rude individual.
well I've been going for 25 years now and for the most part the ops and all other employess have been quite friendly from what I can remember. Ive been lucky enough to never run into anyone in a bad mood/being rude. Though I know of a school buddy that did not even last a season cause he hated it there but another one worked there for two years as far as I know. hope to see many of you this summer.....well it's not like I know any of you but anyway I'll shut up now.
As a general rule, the rides employees at Cedar Point are easily the best in the industry.

I cannot say the same for the employees in other divisions, particularly in food service, where you can indeed find employees who clearly hate their jobs. The unusual thing about these people who hate their jobs is that they are also generally polite, helpful, and friendly, unlike the rude/surly/nasty people you might expect to find. But while CP has lots of stellar employees in all departments, it is their rides staff that truly shines.

Wow, Dave. On behalf of Cedar Point rides employees former and current, I thank you for your kind words. They made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I think that I speak for most rides employees when I say that it is the smiles on the faces of the guests that drives us to be "the best in the industry."

Wow cool i didn't think there would be this many replies to this. I'm glad that many of you were able to be honest.

LuvRaptor---yeah its true that some of us work 14+ hours in a day anyways those are the best days (well for me that is)

Lets Ride---I'm sorry that you were treated so rudely, I wish there was more done on your situation.

Rideman--I know exactly what you mean

Anyways I would love to hear more.....keep em coming :)
As a fellow amusement park employee i'm not suprised by a less than ideal transaction :) People just need to lighten up and realize that not everyone is going to be chipper and all smiles everyday. That doesn't excuse rudeness or other extreme deviant behavior. But i've never had any complaints about the staff at CP. Thumbs up all around! And the sweeps are the best.
Lets not forget the Corkscrew ride ops. "We will take you up 85 feet and drop you down 80 feet fliping you upside down not once, not twice (pause), but three times. See you back here in two minutes and one secound!"

And of course they put the most enthusiastic ops on Woodstock's Express. It seemed like you were riding one of the really big rides. It was so neat. I rode it at least 20 times just for the ride ops enthusiasm.

Forgot to mention how much each of the ops new about their ride! Do they study that stuff or what?

Most CP ride ops know their rides like an old friend by the end of the summer. Even if they don't know much about their rides when they start work, they usually know all of the minute details by mid-season. It's really a function of the pride that most ride ops gain in working on a particular ride. I certainly took pride in having the chance to work on Power Tower last season.

I will have to say that I have never had a bad experience with employee attitude at CP. Even when I returned the bad waffles last year, they were fairly nice about it, even though they probably thought I was a bit picky.

Of course, the flip side of the coin is this:

How nice are you to the employees? I have found that if you are courteous, use polite words and tones, and make reasonable requests, you will rarely encounter an unacceptable response. I have worked in hospitality and in food service, and I can tell you, neither are a picnic when the going gets tough. It's even worse when someone makes a total ass of themselves with outrageous demands, shouting, cursing and a load of attitude.

It's absolutely amazing how people react to the words "Please" and "Thank You". Use them often!

Wow!!! Hearing all these comments about ride ops (and other positions) makes me a bit more nervous than I already was... I am going to try extra hard to be as good as the employees of the past have been!!! Hope I will succeed, and see you this summer!!!
