What do park sweeps do?

I just got hired as a sweep but I have no idea what they do can someone tell me? Thanks.

Sweeps do just that... They sweep inside the park. It's actually a lot of fun because you get to walk around, go where you want (within a certain area) and work at your own pace. It's pretty refreshing, actually! It's also nice because you get a lot of 1-on-1 guest interaction.

I don't work at CP nor have I ever, but I go often. Park sweeps,I consider, are park 'ambassadors' walking around and are everywhere. They are the ideal person to ask to get directions to an atraction/place and to get a park map from. I get maps from sweeps to give to visitors who seem 'lost'.

I wounder why Knott's got rid of the sweep's, We were the test park lol.

Sweeps is great, just be ready for anything and keep a positive attitude.

Also, good shoes. Ride hosts can get away with off brand Walmart shoes, but if you're a sweep buy a decent pair of running/walking shoes.

Sweeps are responsible for keeping the park clean.

The majority of the shift is spent walking back and forth with your broom and dustpan, sweeping up any trash you encounter. Sweeps are also responsible for keeping benches, trash cans, ashtrays, water fountains and any other objects within their assigned area clean.

Since they are so visible and accessible to guests, Sweeps are also asked a lot of questions. It's a good idea to learn everything you possibly can about the park, the water park, the hotels, etc. You'll also want to learn where all of the restrooms, food stands, rides etc are so that you're able to direct anyone who asks.

You will be constantly on your feet and walking around. You'll want a great pair of shoes that are well broken in.

First of all, welcome to Sweeps!

Last year Sweeps was part of rides in Park Operations, but it has been moved back to Park Services this season.

As a Sweep, you will be expected to sweep the midways of the park using a broom and dustpan for the most part. Sweeps also open and close ride queues, clean spills and guest illnesses on midways, and also are in charge of taking care of park designated smoking areas. Also many times during the season, Sweeps are asked to test ride certain roller coasters (mostly Raptor), this is one of the best perks of being a Sweep.

Although you may not know what to expect with sweeping this season at the park, I must tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed it last season, working as an In Charge in Area 2. Though it is hard work, walking all day and being on your feet, always having something to do, I guarantee that you will end up loving Sweeps. As long as you have a good crew that gets along without drama, you and your crew will become very close very quickly during the season. There are many opportunities for crew outings outside of work, and these are something that are very fun, and also help build relationships with crew members. Just remember, at Cedar Point, it doesn't matter what position you are in, but as long as you have a good crew, they will be like your second family, and will make your season(s) the best that you could ever think possible.

Sweeps also are involved with a lot of guest relations. Guests will approach you all day everyday with questions of all sorts. (For many guests, this is their first time to the park, so please respect all of their questions, no matter how silly they may seem). The biggest thing to remember is to keep a big smile on your face the whole day. This makes you easily approachable, and having a good spirit will also enable the guests to have the most enjoyable experience possible while at the park.

Overall, I am positive that you will have a great time working at the park as a Sweep this season. You will meet many new people during the summer that will become some of your life-long friends. Who knows, I may even end up on your crew this season! I must say that you will love the experience this summer, and there was not one day of work that I did not enjoy last season at the park, and I am very excited to start the season off in May! Any other questions you have I am here to answer them! :)
