What date to start??

I just finished college sorta. I "graduate" in may but i am done with all my classes now. I did the last class by exam i just got the letter that i passes so NO spring semester. This means no job as of jan 12 when school starts back because i am not carrying enough units on campus. I was planing on going back to CP in June but now i can go back almost anytime.

What is too early to put on my app? I dont want to spend time cleaning for housing like i did the first time i went. This will be my second season and i want to start as soon as possibe but not too early. I hope to be a bartender some where outside the park.

I dont want to get a real job because i start gradschool in August?

Is it hard getting a bar job? I have experince?

Bartending and serving are the two highest paying seasonal jobs at Cedar Point and are typically in demand by those who have previously worked in the park. Applying early is the key to getting these positions.

That being said, there are no guarantees as to where you will be placed once you are hired. You can always make a request, but it is typically luck of the draw as to which manager you interview with, because they typically only interview for their own area.

Training typically takes place the week before opening day, so expect to start sometime around May 11 or 12.

What I did last year was tell them I couldn't start until like 1 day before opening. That way I avoided a week of cleaning the beach like my first summer.

Does it matter that i worked another season and the next summer i woked at Knotts as a server? My family live in cali so the next summer i wanted to be near family. I wont work in housing again, that job sucked bad. I worked 8p-8a the whole semmer 5-6 days per week.

apply sooner because you have more of a chance to get the early jobs...other than that its basically luck of the draw...put in your requests but other managers will check out the application too.

I believe I'll be coming back twards the end of March, but I'm not sure. Did anyone see that opening day is May16th? Thats later than usual isn't it? So, I'm not real sure what date Merchandise will begin pre season set up. I guess I'll find out after I apply. Also I've got my oldest son applying with me this season. He won't start till May, because he's only going to be 14. I'm trying to get him to work in Merchandise with me, not in the same location of course. It wouldn't work out if I'm in leadership, and his boss, HA HA. I am looking forward to 09, and seeing who comes back. Tiff, if you read this, let me know if you're coming back.

April 6 is what Boggs told me it might start...she wasn't quite sure...and lol yeah...but shhh not telling everyone yet though I'm for sure coming back

My application is done, and has been submitted. Merchandise is my number one choice of course. Hey Tiff, it would be cool if you come back this season, maybe we could be in the same location. I don't think Snoopy Boutique is the store I'd like to be in this season, but who knows. It was fun last season. I really like Park Plaza, and those cash registers they have, plus the store is set up so nicely. Got a question, my son turns 14 in March, so should he apply now, or wait? He's not sure what division he wants to work in, but I've been promoting merch. Have fun the rest of the winter!

I'm definitely coming back, I'm going to go to school at CSU for Science Teacher Education in Chem and Physics. I obviously don't know where I'm going to be at yet, though hopefully we'll get calls within the next week or two. And I don't know about your son's age...I know 18 can apply before and say they will be 18 by the time they come but younger I don't know.

Wow I got my Ed license from CSU in the same field!!! If it is anything like it was when i graduated you will be able to find a job quick! In 2005 I was one of only 7-20 specifically licensed to teach physics.

ohh sweet thank you!!!!! I'm finally applying today, winter jobs kind of stink in the money availability area...lol... But thank you for the good news. I know they need science teachers everywhere but its always nice to hear it from someone who is one. I'm going to study up this summer (on my few off hours at CP ;) ) and then head back this August. I'm super excited to get it started again. Thank you again! :)
