I've heard bad things about the on point and bugs. How bad are the bugs with the commons dorms? Also after money is taken from your check for "rent", how much does the average worker have left over?
Bugs are not at all a problem at commons. I worked usually 130 hours+ for my two weeks and had a decent check $700+ after taxes.

It's all in how much you work. If your a worker and work a lot your going to get a hefty check. If not and you work your minimal hours then after taxes it's slim, so it's up to you really.
As for bugs in commons...This seemed to be the year of bed bugs. I know of quite a few people that have had to be moved multiple times due to bed bugs. I'm not currently in Sandusky as I'm only working a few weekends, but I do have word from my roommates still up there that I'll be in a new room when I return next weekend...all due to the bed bugs that have been spreading through commons all summer.

If you want to make money, try not to work in a department that hires minors. Since they pay the minors less, they try to give them as many hours as possible.
In 2009 the majority of hours might go to internationals. They were requesting more and they get the hours in order to return.
The money question = It all depends on how many hours you work.
The bugs question = Before I even processed in, I brought spider killer with me because I remember years as a guest at the park where those spiders looked so fat, ugly, and well fed that I thought I would die of fright if I found one in my dorm. I only killed a few spiders in my room, and they were not all that big. As far as the flying things.... what were they, may-flies maybe? Muffleheads? I cannot remember, all I remember is they seemed to like to accumulate on your car in the parking lot, and most of them would fall off as you drove off and picked up speed. But as far as the bugs in thr dorms, they weren't bad.

It’s easy to have money as long as you control your Louie’s spending! As far as hours I disagree with a few statements here. Minors don’t always get cut first because if they are scheduled, rides home need to be arranged. They are minors, and are treated as such. They don’t just get to walk around the park. Plus the younger minors have a cap on how many hours they can work. International employees tend to get more hours because they ask (actually beg) for them, and more importantly, don’t complain about it. Working a 14 - 16 hour day is more than a lot of people can handle. Then trying to do it 5-6 days a week. So you tend to give the hours to those who can handle it, with the least amount of drama for the team. And trust me, people who can’t handle it complain to everybody. I’m tired, they wont let me go home, why does he/ she get to leave and I don’t. Ect. They walk up to everybody and it brings down everybody.
As far as bed bugs, I never had an issue with them But if your worried bring some spray and do some cleaning when you arrive. I’ve seen spiders, but I also see them at home from time to time.

The bugs..they are a plenty! From muffleheads to mayflies and junebugs...they are annoying, but are only around temporarily.
Here are interesting local article on muffleheads: http://www.sanduskyregister.com/articles/2007/05/29/front/294219.txt
As far as bedbugs- I've experienced that and it's horrendous. You can purchase a bedding spray @ Walgreens, Rite-Aid or CVS that will kill any eggs. I would suggest spraying 2 cans on the actual mattress, especially in the seams..and letting it air dry for 24 hours. Wash your bedding quite regularly in hot water- twice a week typically. A mattress can be protected by using an allergen proof mattress pad (found @ Bed, Bath & Beyond) sealing shut all the seams and putting it on a protected bed after a final visual inspection. Once sanitized, bedding should NOT be allowed to drape to the floor. Also, bathe immediately before entering the bed.
