Werewolf Canyon

You could have just addressed specific questions, not picked his entire post apart causing myself and many others to completely re-read his post, again." If you would have looked...I was asking questions to what CP bound was asking. I DID ask specific questions, in which were response to his reply. I was keeping people on the same page with me. Please speak for yourself. I didn't copy his entire post.

Oh man...I am getting excited!!! Well...kinda, I'll probably not even go through it because I'll be too chicken poop!!!

Noticed something odd today...

As noted, the attraction exit is through a long wooden ramp that comes down the observation deck ramp. That ramp has been equipped with the standard Cedar Point double exit gate. The odd thing is that at the observation platform end of the ramp, there is an operator's station with a telephone, a key switch, and a Big Red Button. Now what do you suppose those controls are for?

Perhaps the Big Red Button (tm) is a panic button that will turn on the lights in the area?

That's a thought. There are halogen lights on poles overlooking the new ramp. The only other reason I could think of for the Big Red Button™ was if there is a stunt on the ramp. There is a railing across the wide part of the box canyon (where the waterfalls usually are), and the ramp appears to originate behind the island in the middle of the canyon. The ramp appears to be a shallow (1:12 ADA compliant?) ramp only about 4' wide, with railing on both sides. So there really isn't much space on the ramp for any high-octane scare action. Unless they are planning to make part of that ramp...um...less than completely stable, just to keep participants a little off-balance as they walk through what would otherwise be a pretty long attraction exit. But a stunt (and I have three different possibilities in mind, any of which could be blindingly effective) might require the presence of a Big Red Button™ to enable certain participants to actually make it through the attraction...

It's just a thought. Don't read anything into it. But I hope someone tells us all about it next week, as I doubt that I will be in the park when the HalloWeekends festivities are going on...

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

Sorry to divert the topic, but do you still get in the park early with JCC during Halloweekends?

Blue people fly sideways when it rains....
Was anyone there tonight, and if so, were you dissapointed by this? To me, it was just a version of fright zone inside Thunder Canyon which kind of took away from it. It was ok, but not as good as I was expecting it to be.

I was a little disappointed. Just some fog and lights. Plus, I thought it was way too short.

Friday, September 18th, 2003 at 10:10 PM. It finally happened. Rollback on Dragster in the front seat of the gold train!

It was cool walking through the Canyon of the ride, but it felt like I was shopping for a Christmas tree.

"get a job man!"

Yeah, I thought the whole place was too bright. I can't be scared or even interested when I see the werewoves from 15ft away. All I saw was a bunch of christmas tress all over the place and like 5 wolves. A little disappointing.

However I did like the guy in the beginning before you walked in, Gave a little plot and whatnot.

Christmas tree shopping....lol....nice job CP...really sounds like it warrants the 54" height requirement. Maybe it was just because it was opening night. How was the extended Fright Zone? Out of curiosity, how were the crowds on Friday? I really wanted to go yesterday, but no one could go.
I was dissapointed too...not only was it less than I expected in quality, it felt a little short too. There really weren't too many people there, but there really wasn't anything running due to Isabelle's remaining winds.

Well I think everything besides Millennium Force ran as scheduled yesterday, besides TTD and its downtime. I believe Millennium Force was not closed because of the wind either.
No, Millennium Force had cable issues that kept it from opening. Despite the windy conditions, the Mantis and the Raptor were both running, but only with one train each. This I suppose was done to keep the trains full and less prone to a roll-back.
Being with Voodoo yesterday, I can re-iterate his point about Werewolf canyon...it really was a huge dissapointment to me...minus the ranger and his story, the whole thing was the SAME exact thing as any other haunted house at the park...it was blindingly bright, I could see everyone, and, it smelled like pine...

besides that: Fright Zone was again absolutely incredible, unfortunately, because of high winds, the fog wasn't quite as thick as it could have been, but the zone was still great...

Millennium Force: the cable was very slack where it runs at the bottom of the lift hill, there were at least 4-5 guys working on the cable itself...not sure what actually caused the ride to close however..

All other shows and attractions: again, I love Cedar Point for the atmosphere that they create every year for Halloweekends, and this year is no exception to that fact...the night ended with a GREAT ride on TTD, and I look forward to going again next weekend.

Werewolf Canyon: it's a lot like shopping for a christmas tree. Only, with werewolves.

I thought it sucked. I mean, the concept and original idea was pretty good, but the execution was absolutely bad.

What time does the water show start?

I don't know if it was just my groups trip through the canyon, but I thought it was pretty awesome. The fog was VERY thick last night and there were very few clear spots. There was one scare in particular that made think Werewolf Canyon was awesome. I was in the lead of our group and slowly making my way through the dense fog, and I mean dense, you couldn't see an inch in front of you. Then out of mowhere a werewolf head appeared and scared the crap out of me. Never before have I been so unprepared for a major scare like that.

That was where I then saw Dan Keller and a few other people standing off to the side in the canyon watching the guests go through.

I was kinda suprised by all these negative comments because I thought it was incredible. I think a major factor that made my experience so cool and scary was that I was in the very front and didn't know where any of the wolves were. Whereas the people behind us saw where every scare was. This is true for the haunted houses as well.

On final note, I would just like to say good job to CP for coming up with the monster that is Werewolf Canyon!

I thought it was good, the pre-talk thing was real good. considering it was the first week and the werewolves hadnt learned the inn's and outs yet it was pretty good overall. There were tons of werewolves when i was in there, all over the place. They didnt do a goodjob of hiding though, mostly just walking around in the open. Would be better if they could make the distances between groups longer but, this would cause much longer lines. Take one or the other I guess.
