Toledo area meteorologists have predicted that the heat index will be well over 100 degrees in Toledo and the Lake Erie Islands area on Wednesday, June 8th with "actual" temps in the mid 90s.
I work 9am 'til noon in Toledo & then plan on heading towards Soak City & Cedar Point arriving around 1:30pm or so.
Sounds like it'll be a great day for Soak City. I'll unfortunately just be sleeping (work 3rd shift) and hoping my crappy AC can keep up with the heat.
The heat wouldn't be so bad if we had some sort of spring. We practically went from winter right into mid summer conditions. 90 degree temps are not very common for June.
GO IRISH!!
The humidity is what makes it worse. I've survived plenty of 90-degree days, but at CP, it becomes a sort of "heavy" air.

I can at least understand the Winter into brutal summer comment - It's been in the 70's and 80's and 90's plenty of times since the end of January and consistently since the beginning of April. So a temp of 100 with a heat index of 106 isn't too bad. It'd probably feel hotter if I was just wearing a jacket daily.
Today (or at least this evening) felt pretty pleasant I thought. The humidity really isn't here yet, at least not like it is in July and August. It was warm, but pretty tolerable. Wednesday should be about the same.

The posts about the heat crack me up. I never knew what heat was until I moved to the south. :D
Exactly. Ohio heat has nothing on the heat I experienced in Alabama the year I lived down there.
I ended going to Soak City & CP "yesterday" (Tuesday) which was just as hot.
Got there around 2:45pm after work....Soak City was EMPTY!!! It was weird, but nice to go on the Lazy River and not have anyone bothering me.
Samd thing with the park...walked onto all of the rides with no wait.
Will write a review when I come home from work today.
Ok, Im finally getting around to writing about my trip on Tuesday.
So I worked 'til 1pm, came home & changed my clothes- then cranked up the a/c in the car & headed out. As usual, I took Woodville Rd to 579 to Rte 2....which can be a mistake on some days! I "should" take the Turnpike since it's just as close to my house, but I can't see paying the $3.25 each way.
Anyways, was making great time (speeding) on 579, until I got caught behind a mini van going 40mph and refusing to let me pass him. This continued until just past Davis Besse on Rte 2,..& then finally I could let loose and drive normal!! Yes,..I have road rage.
Got to Soak City around 2:45pm and was able to park in front of the entrance gate! Walked inside and found my friend. It was a literal ghost town! We headed towards the Lazy River closest to Breakers, which I normally love because it's quiet & leisurely. Well, this time around it was vile. There were so many muffleheads and mayflies floating in the water, along with leaves, etc.! The water flow/movement was at a standstill as well. DISGUSTING. We headed towards the "other" Lazy River with the waterfalls..and ended up floating around for an hour or so. Sat in the shallow end of the Wave Pool as well. It was so nice to be there on a day when it was empty. Didn't have to deal with children or obnoxious junior high kids.
Headed over to the park for the 5:30p "Rockin' the Point" show at the Jack Aldrich Theater. Well? What can I say? The cast had great, unending energy and was very focused...going 'beyond' chewing the scenery to garner any sort of recognition from the audience. The show itself was very poorly written and had no direct focus. The song selections and framework of the piece was very scattered. The audience unfortunately was "not" responsive in the least,...which made me feel bad for the cast. So as I've found so far this year- horribly written shows with no focus...but great, talented castmembers.
Took the Sky Ride over towards Frontier Trail around 6pm. Stopped at the Petting Farm and visited some animals before they closed up for the night. Walked to Shoot the Rapids and walked RIGHT ON...no wait. Then headed to Thunder Canyon and walked RIGHT ON...no wait. The Thunder Canyon crew was "great" and their spiel was hilarious...they had fun teasing a young girl on our raft- telling her that we'll go underwater, upside down, etc. You could tell they really enjoyed their job- even though it was a slow day. Then went to Paddlewheel Excursions where we met Captain Charlie. He was great too...and trying to amuse himself and the crowd on a slow, slow day.
It was too hot to do much else, and it was getting time to eat so we headed out to the new Dairy Queen on the Causeway. I was actually impressed. This was probably the most upscale DQ I've been to!! Normally, DQ's are old, rundown crumbling relics of the 1950's with a staff to match. This was a very nice location with a great value menu. I ordered the "2 for 3" cheeseburger and onion rings. The staff was much too slow & more worried about personal conversations & socializing then helping guests though. Slightly irritating. Sat inside & ate...then it was time for ice cream. DQ? No. Cobb's? Yes!
Headed over to Cobb's on Tiffin Avenue. I ordered the "Create Your Own Flurry". Rice Krispie Treat Cheesecake Flurry. HELL to the yes!! Oh my GOD and everything that's holy....it was amazing. Drop everything and go order one of these TODAY!!! Took our ice cream and headed down to Shoreline Park and sat outside on a bench (several other people/families had the same idea) enjoying the evening.
Stopped at Speedway on Rte 2 to get a jumbo caffeinated drink to stay awake, and then on the road. By the time I headed back home, I was so exhausted and felt like I had heat stroke. NOT a good sign when you're trying to drive. I felt tired and nauseous. Made it home and immediately fell asleep. All in all,...a great although HOT DAY!

That seems to happen to me about 1 in every 10 times I do that drive. I haven't timed the drive since the speed limit went up on the turnpike, but previously the two routes were within 5 minutes of each other from my apartment. But 579/2 is fewer miles and less gas, so that's typically my choice as well.
Glad you mentioned Rockin the Point. I saw the first public show of the season and enjoyed it more so than what's in the Garter this year. The cast is pretty energetic, and the lighting was impressive for that venue. I didn't care for what they did with "Imagine", but the rest of the show was solid.
