Wednesday, June 24... Hot!

I got to the marina gate right as the park opened for early ride time, and I walked quickly back to MF. Right when I got to the ramp I knew it was going to be a really hot day. I was already sweating profusely... at 9 am. So I got the first train of the day, and then rode 2 more times before the line started backing up, at which point I decided to go to Dragster.

I got in the Dragster line at about 9:45 and got on very quickly once it opened, using my single rider status :). The rest of the morning was pretty smooth sailing.. The lines were all pretty short for the most part, and I got an incredible ride on airhaw- i mean Skyhawk. Of course all the while I was seeking shade wherever possible.

Around 1:00 I went back to MF for another ride. There was a DJ in the booth, and he had a giant 10-gallon jug of ice water that he was handing out to anyone who needed it, and he was basically pleading with guests to stay hydrated. Nonetheless, in a matter of 10 minutes I watched two people in line pass out from the heat. I also noticed the line was moving rather slow for MF.

As it was, they only had the red and blue trains running for a while. Then when I was right next to the station, they brought on the yellow train, only to take the red train off the track right away. So I figured they were wanting to rotate them to keep from overheating.

A little later, I went up front and drove my car to the back parking lot to go to Soak City, and I noticed that not only were both the yellow and red trains on the transfer track, but they were removing some wheels from the red train. The heat must have really taken its toll on Millie. But they got it back up and running and all 3 trains were running later in the evening.

Soak City was very refreshing, but kind of crowded. I even rode SRF (last ride, perhaps? ;) ) and Thunder Canyon.

In the evening we rode Dodgem. I missed the memo that not all Cedar Fair Dodgems are the same. Or remotely close to each other. The dodgems at Kings Island are so horribly slow, that I was just hoping for one solid hit. I didn't get the memo that CP's dodgems are insane! Ouch.

Air Strea- I mean Blue Streak was running great yesterday. Props to Ryan for the great rides :). And of course I ended with the last train on Millie. A solid day at the point.

I went yesterday too and had a great day. The heat was pretty bad.

When I was going back to the lockers near MF at around 3 or so, I noticed the ride was closed and seen them transfering trains off, but the ride reopened about an hour or so later. When we rode around 11 they were only running 2 trains, then brought on the red train, transfered blue off, then took yellow off, brought it down to one train op. This made for a very long line, untill they brought blue back on and the line picked up.

Soak City, Got Country and Signed Sealed Delivered was how I kept cool yesterday as well. MF was not the only ride that was having wheel troubles, Raptor's train #1 was as well. Saw maintenance working on the wheels on my first lap and then got back in line again, they put train 1 back on the track, maintence took a ride and immediatly sent it back to the storage shed.

I agree with you about the bumper cars! I got hit pretty hard, and still have the bruise on my leg from it. It's a great wait to take out my road rage though. ;)

Yeah, we saw this too :-/ The weather was just BRUTAL, and I say that being from Florida.... We actually thought we could escape the heat by coming up north for a while... uh uh...

Millennium Force at sunset is a beautiful sight.

I didn't go to Cedar Point on Wednesday, but I was in the area and caught 10 laps on Shivering Timbers on Wednesday afternoon. It was well into the 90's. I guess I am the only one that enjoyed the heat. It felt great!
