Trip Report: Wednesday, June 13, 2001
By Nash
Me and my once a year friend Mark met to go to Cedar Point with my churches youth group, we drove up from Columbus and like always it was definitely worth it.
We got in the park at about 11:15 and rode magnum twice got the red train both times, followed by Gemini, because it was close. Then we figured CCMR would be a walk-on but it was not, we should have gone by it later but we did not. We took a break for an early lunch at about 12:30 and moved on to Millennium Force. Right before we got on there was a five-minute breakdown. We got the blue train and chose a car near the back, and in the back seat, it was a little rougher than I remembered but I think it was because were in the back seat. We then proceeded to do the Iron Dragon, because it was on the way. We got to Raptor at about 2:45 and waited for the front seat, it was worth the extra ten minutes. Rode Demon Drop twice and went by disaster transport we were planning on riding it but when we walked in the air conditioning was off (very humid and hot), and the black lights were not on so we didn’t do it. We got to Power Tower and rode the down side. Corkscrew was a walk on there were more employees than there were guests! Rode the train to frontier town and stopped by the town hall museum then we rode White water landing and then Mean Streak in the yellow train, this was the first time I can remember it being fun, it only smacked me around a little bit. At this point we had done everything we planned to so we walked back to millennium force. We got the red train and it was smoother and faster than earlier there was also a 5-min breakdown again. We decided to go back down by magnum and ride it until we had to leave (we got two in), after a quick ride on Gemini. Then we had to leave.
The day was more than I could have asked for, the waits were low and we got a lot done. We intentionally left out mantis because we did not feel like it after all of the walking we did, it was probably the best day I have ever spent at Cedar Point.
Here is a quick summary of the wait times.
Magnum 15 min
Gemini 5 min
Cedar Creek Mine Ride 20 min (unbelievable)
Millennium Force 1 hr 10 min (including 5 min breakdown)
Iron Dragon 10 min
Raptor 50 min (plus 10 min for front seat)
Demon Drop 5 min
Power Tower 20 min
Corkscrew walk on
White Water Landing 20 min
Mean Streak 15 min
Gemini 5 min
Magnum 20 min
I wonder if the 'breakdowns' were actually puke delays? There were a few of those the next day too.
-------------
A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
Our wait time was 20 minutes? Odd...we didn't open any queues...
