Webcams??

Any ideas what this is? Looks like white supports? Or maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I definitely didn't see this yesterday.

EDIT: Upon looking closer... they look to be just several cranes... My bad..

The shorter one looks like a cherry picker. And the taller one looks like a crane. It took me a long stare to figure out what those were. They do look like supports though at first look.

Peace, Mikey

Maybe they really are putting in the water effect? If so, I can image they would need pumps back there that could require a crane or two to put in place. Just a thought.

EDIT: It looks like there are cranes all over the site. So, maybe they're just placing trees? *** Edited 4/11/2007 3:21:32 PM UTC by halltd***

At this point, I am more interested in Snake River Falls. Are they filling the pond now, maybe for pre-inspection.

I thought it took only 2 days to fill it, and it never gets emptied.

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

It looks like they're cleaning SRF. Wasn't there a blog entry last year showing them hosing it out and scrubbing the "pond"? From the cam, that's what is looks like they're doing now.

I agree with halltd about maybe working on the water effects. I don't think the trains and the cherry pickers are anything to worry about, although someone, somewhere will jump to conclusions and decide there was a problem with testing and they are completely demolishing the heartline and the canyons!

However that must be a hellacious pump to need a crane for it. I spent many a summer building swimming pools in my youth...built some pretty big ones (70,000 plus gallons) and I could always lift the pumps by hand.

It does seem that they are about to fill SNF. :)

Nick

That must be a vacuum truck, taking out all the dirty water then.

But there is a lot of action around that ride.

That is a pumper (vacuum) truck....kinda like what they use to clean septic tanks and port-o-jons.

I'd be surprised if they fill it just yet, especially with weather reports calling for snow and possible freezing. But I've been wrong before.

And yes, they only fill it the once during the season, but I'm pretty sure they top it off a couple times a week to make up for evaporation and people carrying it off in their soaked clothes.

I just took another peak and it does appear that they vacuumed water out of SRF, as there is less now than there was earlier today. Over at Maverick it looks like now the cranes have moved on to the tunnel. Looks like work is being done in the tunnel. Perhaps adjusting the LSM fins so we don't have any of that horrid clanking sound you hear on FoF at KI or occasionally on WT.

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

Uhhhh. I don't think they can use a crane to adjust the LSMs inside the tunnel. There are these things called walls and a roof on the tunnel. :)

riight, they use tonka trucks for that.

I'm pretty sure it was one of the cherry pickers that was over there and they had the basket extened into the tunnel, but that's a good observation on the walls and roof on the tunnel. I'm betting that no one else had noticed that.

Tonka trucks...lol. I used to love those things.

Nick

i completely forgot tunnels were enclosed, then i remembered "duh, THATS why theres barey any light"

Enclosures....darkness....its all starting to make sense now!

Nick

Good news. Even in this crummy weather they are testing. I started seeing trains go just before 3.

It's not that I'm afraid to die; I just don't want to be there when it happens

Yep. Saw that too. I'm guessing that we will see some testing everyday from now until opening day. Weather permitting of course, and it is really good to see that they are sending the trains out in the rain.

Nick

It also appears they are pressure washing SRF's pond floor.

Thats pretty cool that they're testing in the rain. Perhaps since there is very little contact acceleration (LSMs do not actually contact the train and do not rely on friction) Maverick will be able to operate in more weather conditions than other coasters.
