Webcams??

The latest blog post says that the cams are not in their final positions and will be moved before opening day.

As a side note, its fairly obvious that the cams were down to hide the secretive re-construction of wave swinger from public view.

I thought Wave Swinger was reconstructed before the cams went down? I remember seeing pictures of it a while back and thinking, "Oh, they put Wave Swinger back together."

I think the "station" cam is mounted on the train shed right by the tracks. Walt took a picture of it a while back.

The ride is looking pretty good. From the webcams, it also looks like they have been working on even more theming and landscaping which is good. I like the current locations since it will give views of testing, but I'll be glad to see different views when the park opens.

I'll be perfectly honest, many people have complained about the fencing, the canyon missing, etc. We have only seen limited views from pictures on the blog and from what can be seen on the webcams. Wait until we have a view in person from the midway and surrounding area! I don't think there will be any more complaints.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Based on the fencing that can be seen in the photos in the blog, I don't think they will obstruct the view at all.

^ Depending on how far away from the fence you are, yes. From Walt's panoramic, it looks like the fence is small enough. I just wonder how far from the train it will be.

Hopefully we just overreacted to the fence. :)

^ Way to read the thread before posting!!

Tim - I thought that the "station cam" was mounted on a construction trailer that's out by the road. Its not on a permanent structure (although I did suggest throwing a few more trailers around the site and renaming it "Tornado Alley").

According to the pic he linked to, you're correct, John.

Yeah, I couldn't make out WHAT was in that picture, much less where a cam may have been attached. Of course, that could be because I have the brightness turned down on my monitor....helps with eyestrain through the day.

Look at the link I posted earlier. Its mounted on a 6x6 post next to the little building by the RR tracks. Its definitely not mounted to one of the construction trailers. But, the post its on is as permanent as a fence. So, I don't see why it couldn't stay there. They have some scaffolding up around it too so they can clean it - or perform maintenance. :)

Hate to break it to you Tim, but that post appears to be mounted directly to the roof of the trailer. I don't see the post coming down in front of the the trailer, and those guys standing on the trailer are definitely behind it, so the cam is mounted to the trailer.

Uhhhhhhmmm. No.

What's this "we" thing you're talking? You've been here for, what? a day?

*I* make people cry, though.

^^ Hate to break it to you, John. But, check out these photos. Its mounted to a 6x6 on the RR shed. They're standing on scaffolding, and the post is behind the trailer, that's why you can't see it. Thanks for playing. :)

Your "even better picture" looks as though its mounted to a 1x6 thats mounted to the side of the construction trailer.

Ok, you're just blind then. Sorry, I can't help you.

djDaemon's avatar

It's a 2x or 1x something, not a 6x6.

The piece its mounted to is a 2x6 that extends above the roof of the building and all the way to the ground (probably has wire attached to it). It appears there is an additional 2x6 that is only above the roof and it there for support.

Maybe your sun and 80 degree temps have got you with a little sun poisoning and blindness, but that's whats in the image.

changed to read 2x6....its most likely not a 1x
