Water Ride wait times...

So I am heading to CP tomorrow and it is supposed to be 94. I think water rides will for sure come in handy. I know it has been hot lately, so how have the wait times been for the water rides? I am getting fast lane so STR I don't expect to wait too long, but how have the lines been for Snake River and TC?

The last water ride I have been on at CP was White Water Landing. I loathe being soaking wet all day or having to bring an entire change of clothing. I really think CP dropped the ball on only having water rides that drench you. I had high hopes for STR but have never been on it after seeing drenched getting off of it. I have not seen a line for that ride at all this year so far but have not been to the park on 90 degree plus day yet. I dont want to call it a flop but it is definatley one of the least successful recent attracions. That and I hate the area of wet people roasting in sun, the mix of humidity, BO, chlorine, and Lake Erie water a pleasant aroma do not make.

STR does not really drench you. I have been on the ride I think 3 different times and not once have I come off drenched.

First of all, for sure tomorrow where we live in east Ohio it will get into the 100s, and even though the high may say 90 something, it might reach above 100 degrees. The way I see it, the lines will probably be about 1hr and a half for the water rides. Also on the side note, Soak City will be crowded as will the beach. Also, tomorrow is the Carly Rae Jespen concert, so expect big crowds no matter what, and that might make the water ride lines even longer.

One final reminder to anyone taking a trip to Cedar Point (especially for these couple of days), wear comfortable clothing (black is a no-no), and don't forget to wear plenty of sunblock.

Yes tomorrow is going to be a busy day for First Aid at CP and those cool little golf cart ambulances.

The lines for STR are usually past the train tracks on hot days.

Would you mind sharing the ridership and maintenance cost information?

Just my opinion as far as hype, how many people state how boring it is between the lifts, the delays, the slowness of the boats, the lack of rapids, and the fact that everytime I have been there since it opened, I have never seen a long line for it. Yes it will be busy with this weather but the ride itself just seems so "meh" to me. I have never ridden it but have seen plenty videos of it and even with walk ons on recent trips just did not have the desire to try it out. Not trying to be a douche but this ride is just not a hit.

I wouldn't take issue if you were voicing your opinion. However, this is not an opinion:

...this ride is just not a hit.

You're making a statement of fact that you quite clearly demonstrate you're not qualified to make (to be fair, nor am I, but I'm not making such a statement). To make it even more amusing, you haven't even been on the damn ride!

You use two main points in your determination: one, that people complain about it, and two, that when you've been at the park, there hasn't been a line for it.

Regarding the first half of your "evidence", people will complain about anything online. People complained about Maverick, for crying out loud, and they'll complain about Project 2013 (in fact, many already are). Using online complaints as a basis for an argument is absolutely ludicrous.

As for the rest of your "evidence", you're trying to make a judgement based on absolutely no data. There are plenty of conflicting reports indicating moderate or longer lines for the ride. And their anecdotal "evidence" is just as valuable as yours (in other words, not at all).

Are you freaking kidding me? This is an CP Forum...man some of you guys take the fun out of being able to discuss ANYTHING on this site. The "evidence" that I have that some of you really need to get a life is posted right above me. Man.....

There's a reason I never see long lines at Shoot the Rapids, and that's because I usually go by it at night; when very few people line up to ride water rides. I could walk right on at that time. That doesn't mean that the lines are not long at all, nor can I prove that it isn't a hit.

I stopped going on the ride last year due to the crew not letting me put my loose articles on the shelves. A rider also can not pick their own seat, so even if somebody doesn't want to get drenched in the front, they will place you there. I have never seen the line past the railroad tracks, but I have not been at the park when it is above 90 degrees. Personally, I think it is a mediocre attraction and shocked that Pilgrims Plunge at Holiday World was less than half the cost of Shoot the Rapids.

The year it opened I went on it, mid to late August, and it was a fairly warm day. There was absolutely NO wait at all. A complete walk-on. Plus, we were able to pick where we sat. But the wettest I actually got on that ride was from those water cannons, which aren't even part of the actual ride, I guess you can say. I will also say I agree with clevelander that it is slow and gets boring between the lift hills. And I definitely think the height requirement should be much lower since it really is more of a kids/family ride rather than a thrill ride. If the park does this, I would consider the ride to be a success (a ride little kids can go on with their parents and grandparents) but if not, it will remain a boring, nothing-special-about-it ride.

After riding Pilgrims Plunge a few weeks back, I prefer StR. The best/scariest part of that tide was the elevator ride up. The drop was high but not all that thrilling. Lastly there's less theming on the boat ride. That's just one opinion though.

This is true. There are times when people just go a bit overboard...

But anyway, Shoot the Rapids definitely was not as big of a hit as I expected it to be. I have never seen a line for the ride that went past the train tracks since its first few months of operation.

Regarding Pilgrim's Plunge, I found the trip out to the elevator to be far more rollicking and log flume-esque than any ground-level portion of StR, which seems like the pace of It's a Small World in comparison.

PP's actual drop is far less intense than you would expect, I'll grant you.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

Here Come the Irish!

I've been watching the live action cam, and it looks like SRF has not been running the last few days. Anybody else notice that or have any official info on what's going on with the ride?

As far as budgets are concerned, do you remember all of the downtime and issues StR had before it even opened? Retro fitting boats, retro fitting the trough, along with many other items needing worked on. It's safe to say it went over budget.

^I agree that the ride did have too many problems upon opening. But how do we know that the park had to pay for the retrofit?
