Water or not??

Its not like nothing has ever been built over water before. A coaster could be built over water and it could very well last for 40, 50, 60 years. Just because Lake Erie has waves doesn't mean it would break the ride.

Climatologists seem to agree that the Great Lakes are shrinking due to global warming. The lake surface stays warmer, allowing more evaporation, and with the lake freezing over for shorter and shorter durations this increases the period where evaporation can occur.

Even though Lake Erie is losing ground the most slowly of any of the Great Lakes, it's expected to lose something like 16% of its surface area by 2050. I posted a link on it a while back, but I'm too lazy to dig it up.

Upshot: there will be more land to build rides on, if CP is still around.

Downshot: the newly uncovered land will revert to the state of Ohio, so CP will have to wrestle with bureaucrats to do anything with it.

Permission to build anything in the lake requires so much red tape it's rediculous even for a small boat dock. Getting permision for a coaster, well good luck. Those rides they had in the water were built over a hundred years ago when there weren't so many regulations.

A coaster in the lake isn't a good idea for many of the reasons already stated.

It has always bothered me that for CP being surrounded by water on three sides that you can see almost none of it. The only place you can see water from inside the park is on the train. To see the lake you must exit the park. I would like to see the area by the aquatic stadium opened up so you can see the lake. Maybe that is in the plans for the new kids area. I wouldn't doubt that this new kidsarea will extend beyond the old Peanuts Playground boundary.

Ah yes another old post of mine. Yeah ya know build a dam, make it go into the lake. Put some sweet clear plexiglass under the lake so we can see the fish. It would rock the big one11111@!!!!!

WICKED TWISTER offers a great view of the lake when waiting in line and when standing by it in the midway behind giant wheel. :)
