Water Bottles

If my memory serves me, there was an issue with bringing water bottles into the park at the begining of the season.

Can you bring in WATER bottles? I dont intend on bringing is any soft drinks.

Some people have been able to take them in and then other people have not. So, basically it's a crap shoot.

I think it all depends on whether or not the ticket taker sees the bottle. I've never been stopped the few times I had a bottle or can with me. However, I just heard a story from a coworker who said that someone in his party had to empty a water bottle before entering. So yeah, it's not a consistant policy. Good luck! :)

Funny, I was at a show at Nautica two weekends ago where they wouldn't let people leave with a water bottle. It's a crazy world we live in!

I got a free ice water at the Challenge Park refreshment stand, right by the gate. I wanted to enter the park with the cup of water but wasn't allowed. I even told the admissions person that "it's your own water, I got it right over there!", but no luck.

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

I still hate the person who thought of bottling up water and selling it at more than refreshing prices. However, he did find a market for them and, wow, did they sell!!

Oh, and I'll admit it. I bought a water in line for Millennium Force. That's not something I normally do.

Pete's experience is a great example of the new policy going too far.

What purpose does such a policy serve in the first place?! The whole security thing is a bunch of bull as far as I am concerned as stripping people of their snacks or water bottles does not enhance safety in any way. It might enhance Cedar Fair's profit, but seeing as how per capita spending has been flat, I don't think it has changed things drastically. CP used to be real good about this issue, unlike many other large venues (stadiums, arenas, etc), but they've now "stupified" themselves so they can be like everyone else. Way to go... :) I'm being serious too. I love CP, but this is assinine!

If they want to increase per capita spending perhaps they should take a harder look at what they charge for stuff. I find myself spending less this year because, even for an amusement park, the value-price curve is out of balance. I know I'll pay more for pizza and burgers at a park, but there's still a cut-off, especially when you start your season with Kennywood.

Agreed. I used to spend much more at CP as well. I used to play the games, buy several drinks a day, and lots of snack foods (corn dogs, cheese fries, elephant ears).

But the past couple years prices have gotten out of control. So we eat breakfast at Mickey D's beforehand, pack a cooler for pop/water, and if we don't have a pigout at Midway Market, we stop in Sandusky for a late dinner. I've all but given up playing games.

Take a dollar from me 10 times and I wont complain. Take $10 from me once and I will complain.

Period.

Sounds like they need to get put in a "secure" place when entering.....

Yea, good point about Kennywood! That was where I started my season off too and I think out of the 4 parks I've visited this season, it is the only one I have bought any food in! Can't beat the Buffalo Chicken Strips and Fries (a full meal) for $4.50. CP charges almost that much for just the fries. I expect to pay more than normal inside a park, but CP has gone from being on the lower to middle side of the industry to being on the high side it seems. I'm sure they're doing what they think they can get away with, but I really have to wonder if it's incresing their profit.

Really why should they care? Because the not so smart guests will go and buy a bottled water instead of getting a free one at a food place? I don't get it, water is water, Cedar Point shouldn't care about water. I brought a bottled water right in, the lady even saw it. I was at the Magnum entrance, this happened at the end of last season.
Yea, in past seasons, I've walked right through drinking a Pepsi or Coke and they didn't care. Apparently things have changed this year, although I really haven't tested it out for myself. I understand no glass bottles, no alcohol, etc, but to say someone can not bring in a plastic bottle of soda, pop, or water, or even something like a bag of pretzles is kind of stupid and only serves to irritate people.

It sure irritated me

If C.P. would issue a statement or an exact reason why these things are not allowed, then I would be more understanding.

It ticks me off when they use the blanket term "security" as the reasoning for the new policy. When they refused our water bottle entry at the magnum gate we asked, "Why?". They just said, "Because it is the rules."

Well, rules are made for a REASON and if they provided a SPECIFIC REASON I wouldn't even question the rule.

When I went as part of a physics group we all had backpacks and one of my group members got Lunchables into the park with no trouble. Of course he didn't know the policy.

I hear that there is a sign at the entrance explaining what you can't bring in. I haven't read the sign myself, yet, so I don't know what it says.

Really? I didn't see it there back in June, but I may have missed it. I can imagine that it says something like this, "In order to promote the most enjoyment for park guests, C.P. can no longer permit outside food or beverages to be brought into the park." LOL...I bet that's not far off either.

Seriously, if they have a sign that provides the exact reasoning for the policy, then we shouldn't have a problem with it.

I saw a glimpse of it July 4. I don't think it's been there very long.
