I think if the trains on Magnum get stacked and you get stopped on those block breaks after the 3rd tunnel, it's wayyyyy worse than any braking on any ride in the park. I've never felt that much physical pain from a ride as when that happened to me last year when I was in the front row. I would take Mean Streak over that feeling. However, the Magnum crew has done a pretty good job this year and I haven't gotten stopped on those yet, so kudos to them!
Back to Maverick I would have to echo a few opinions already expressed. Milli, TTD, Wicked, and Maverick ALL great coasters for their own right, but I would LOVE to see another manufacturer step in. My vote goes in for a great woodie or, maybe a little kiss and make up with B&M, I mean after all other Cedar Fair parks are starting to get B&Ms, maybe something can work out.
Kalem, are you saying B&M and CP have some type of feud going, where B&M won't build a ride for CP? That's a ridiculous comment. Give B&M money and they will supply a ride. I would imagine that Intamin won the contracts for the recent coasters because they were best able to meet project specs and cost.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Not only that, but Intamin has been pushing the envelope with regards to technology, etc.
B & M has been making the same coasters again and again for the past decade, with very little in the realm of "unique". The only type they make that I would love at CP is a floorless, but even with that, there's still nothing new.

I didnt take it in the "fighting" way; it's really a matter of "what can you give us that is cutting edge and unique?"
B & M has absolutely no answer to that question, while Intamin has had many answers to that question over the years. As far as I can tell, B & M still has no answer to that question, and until they do, Mantis will probably be their last CP installation for some time to come.
When you look at CP's coasters, you almost exclusively hear the words:
"The worlds tallest, fastest, steepest" (insert type of coaster here).
The B & M of today does not provide that.

I get what you are saying about it being less dramatic if the brake wasn't there, but why design it to go from a launch right into trims? To me it is just a waste of potential energy, and a waste in terms of the ride experience.
Apparently you don't get what I'm saying. How lame would it be to launch the ride at 40 mph? If you're going to launch it at 70 mph, you either need to trim off some speed or make the hill about 170 feet tall.
