Warning to people who wear Glasses

There was a lot of confusion in park op last year over what to do about glasses on Tower after a few pairs were expelled from rider's heads on drop side. First, there were absolutely no glasses allowed. Then, glasses could be worn with straps that secure them to the to the head. Unfortunately there was no way for guests to know about the policy changes because there was no way the park could simply reprint all of their literature mid-season. I'm pleased to see that the park notes the policy in the new literature this season.

They couldn't re-print all the literature...but it would have taken about an hour to make up a sign and post it at the ride entrance. It's very bad practice to ambush riders with a policy like this after they are already secure on the ride and not provide any alternatives. I'm afraid my personal experience on Power Tower last season as a result of this policy was extremely bad. I do not wish to repeat the incident again. I'm just glad they decided to announce the policy.

Personally, I don't understand why they are so paranoid about this coaster compared with all the other rides up there.

Sorry Dave, ride ops have no control over signage at their ride. If they had let me put a notice at entrance, I would have. We had more than a few disgruntled glasses wearing folk last summer.

In all honesty, I don't think it would have made *that much* of a difference anyway. Practically nobody stops to look at the entrance placard except to see how long the wait is. However, I do see the principle behind posting notice at the entrance.

While I'm not thrilled with the policy itself, I AM glad Cedar Point let us know ahead of time. That gave me ample warning to go out and get a strap. I'll be putting it on when riding MF and Power Tower, and then promptly taking it back off because I find straps HORRIBLY uncomfortable.

Is this a new rule on power tower about no glasses? I dont seem to remember that last year, I have seem a few people with glasses, I just assumed some chose not to wear them?

The more you ride it, the more you want it!

I have been on Power Tower 5 times and they never asked me to remove my Glasses. I guess Cedar Point has just had to many people lose glasses. Plus the people who work Power Tower, if they can be hurt by loose change, they can be hurt by Glasses

maybe CP's plan is to pay for all of their new rides through sales of "souvenir safety straps" at the entrance to Millennium Force and Power Tower. ;)
When I was enlisted to help work on Power Tower last year they told me specifically to tell everyone who had glasses with no straps to take them off. And the other people on the crew reminded me if I forgot to tell someone. So it's an important rule to them, apparently.
