Warning to all First Year People

Here is a good tip for all you guys, watch your roommates on their last day and keep your stuff well gaurded. Especially if they get fired. I found that you can't trust anyone even the people you worked with all summer! My roommate got fired back in September and the last day he was there my Playstation 2 turned up missing with only one game taken. Amazingly it was the only game he ever played. I know it had to have been him because I lived with the people I worked with and we were all at work at the time and he was the only one left in the apartment. So watch your stuff and your roommates! I found it real funny that the Cedar Point Police can't do anything past "writing a report". Thank god this was the only bad experience that I had last summer.
Theres really nothing that can be done about that.

One of my sister's freinds found out that I was leaving for the weekend and my sister was spending the night at a freinds while my parents were at work. He stole my playstation, N-64, and my expensive leather jacket totaling over $700. I filed a police report but nothing happened with that. About a week later I found out what happened and who did it, turns out he sold it for money to buy drugs. I tried to find him, but he disappeared.

I don't trust anyone. I've seen way to many people do stupid things in certain situations. It's better to keep unneeded valuable at home, but if you do need them, keep them locked up when your not around.

If your parents have Home owners insurance, and you file a police report, and you write a statement that you were only keeping the things at Cedar Point temporarily, you can get all new stuff and be reimbursed for everything but the deductable (which is usually only around 100 dollars). Sometimes you can even get better stuff 8O). I have done this twice, and came out on top both times.

Yes I was going to say the same thing. All my 'expensive' stuff is covered with my parents' insurance while I am at CP or college. Just have receipts easily accessible, just in case. . . it never hurts.

Oh my. . .NBC's Must See TV Thursday was absolutely amazing. . . I am speechless!

Another thing you might consider doing is writing down all the brands and serial numbers of all the expensive electronics (if any) you plan to bring to Cedar Point, and keeping this list in a safe place. If any of your items are stolen and pawned, the police can trace them with the serial numbers.

I wrote my serials down, but they don't help unless they show up at a pawn shop or some other used store. They don't pay much and their risky, so people with hot items are less likely to use them. It's better to protect them from being stolen in the first place.
I wouldn't bring anything that I would not need for the summer. You are not in your room much anyway. I am lucky as last year I had a car up there and went home every week so usually I just brought enough stuff to get through the week.
Put some of your goodies in the trunk of your car perhaps, but Lee has given alot of good ideas about keeping your stuff safe from dishonest idiots!~
