Wardrobe Fitting?

I went on the Cedar Point job list, and the only job I could find for age 14 (i.e. me) was a wardrobe clerk. Shouldn't Cedar Point be diversifying with lower age groups a little more and give them more job opportunities?
I think you just a little eager to work at Cp. I think if there was maby one or two more things a 14 year old could do that would be great.

14 year olds used to be permitted to work in catering too. Perhaps that has changed.

Your 14, if you love the place so much go have fun there, dont work when your only 14 when you could go as a guest. You need slow down and enjoy life. I have learned it alot better to be catered to than cater at a place you love.
I think you have to be 16 to work in Food Services.

The thing is, I can't have the place I love catered to me due to the fact that my family hates thrill rides, and we never go. :( :( :( :( :(

P.S. Chief Wahoo, crashoverride's right. I checked on the site and you have to be 16 to work in catering.

You have the rest of your life to work. Try being a kid for awhile.

I appreciate all this. Hopefully this is enough to convince my parents that my "high-budget hobby" can be fun for them too. Though I think the only way to convince them is if I started dying and got a trip through the Make-A-Wish Foundation... :(
Cedar Dan: I know exactally how you feel! My family is the same way!

But working there is not the answer. Not until your 18 at least. Were getting passes in '05 so maybe that means more.

If you're from the Sandusky area and can commute to work, you can work at Cedar Point starting at age 14. "Wardrobe Clerk" is not the only position available for 14-year-olds. You can also work in the Merchandise, the Games, or the Park Admissions department.

Cedar Point is a pretty decently-paid job for someone who is only 14, and there is a limit set on how many hours you can be scheduled to work per week so it's not like you would be asked to push 60-70 hours each week like some of the folks in Housing. However, I do agree with those who say that getting a job that early is something you should really think about. Jobs can cut down on your social life, your time to sleep and relax, and your freedom to make plans in advance. However, they also reinforce responsibility and can help you to begin saving for college if that's something you want to do. Don't just start working at the Point because you love the Point and want the free admission; think about how it will affect your current lifestyle, your parents' or guardians' lifestyles (how would you get to work without someone with a driver's license?) and if you're really personally ready for the responsibility of knowing your own schedule, getting there on time, and following the rules that your supervisors ask you to obey.

Park Admissions 2001 - 04

Wow, this really makes me miss CP. My home park (Six Flags Elitch Gardens) has hoards of little kids working there (food services) that look about 13. Then again, some ride ops have NO material on them identifying them as ride ops. That's scary, I thought a Slim Shady look alike had taken over the scrambler ride one night, but just turned out he was some 16 year old punk not wearing a uniform. If you wanted me to complain about that park more, I could for hours. Only two of their rides have DECENT capacity (mainly dispatch times). The rest of them are like 3-4 min intervals!! It's hell sometimes... Oh well, hopefully I'll get to go relive the utopia that is CP once again next summer.
I'm surprised that so many people think that someone who is 14 shouldn't have a job. I started working as a caddy around 12 or so, at the encouragement of my parents, and it was great. Two summers later, I was working 20-30 hours per week in the pro shop at a competing golf course. Working as a teen helps give kids some independence from their folks, both financial and otherwise. Developing a good work ethic is important, and it's useful to see what it really takes to succeed or fail in a workplace compared to the artificial environment of school.

That said, others' points are valid---you don't want your job to be too taxing right now, and you certainly don't want a job that your parnets have to drive you more than a few tens of minutes to. Ideally, you can walk or ride a bike to any job you hold as a pre-driving teen.

Finally, you've hit on one of my pet peeves with the tone of your question. Your question could be reprhased as "why shouldn't CP change their work policies to suit me." I think a better question is "does anyone know any other jobs that someone like me might be qualified for?" The first question makes you sound entitled, while the second question is much more likely to get you the information you want. Luckily for you, Lee is really really nice and answered the second question anyway. :)

Cedar Point does have strict rules about when certain ages can begin working in each individual area. This is all because of saftey issues for the guests and the employee. Mainly they are only following state/national laws! :)

(sigh) Thanks. Maybe things are looking up anyways, because our soccer coach is taking us to CP for a day in Sept. :) Plus, Lee talked about the whole commute problem, which would be a real pain... Thanks for your opinions!
It is really not good to discourage 14 year olds who wanna work. Its good they wanna work I started the job I have now when I was 12.
