waits are tooo long

See, you can only really appreciate Cedar Point's capacity flow until you have gone to another park. Like Paramount's Great America. I waited in line for Top Gun for about an hour or so. Looking at the line, Raptor's staff could have gotten through that crowd in 10 minutes. The lines at Cedar Point may be long but at least it's a steady flow of people going through.

You also have to understand that Cedar Point isn't just some park they threw in Ohio. It is known all around. So you can't expect for a work class park to be empty in the middle of the summer. You just have to pick a better day to go. I don't like lines either so I am going to go at the end of August or early September when kids go back to school. Just plan differently.

Ohio State, here I come!

The longest i had to wait at cp when i went in July was 40 min. that was on Mantis. I walked on to Raptor, walked on to mantis once at night, walked on to gemini, walked on to corkscrew, 20 min for white water landing, 10 for thunder canyon , and 5 for power tower turbo drop. I went on a really good day.

Its all about playing the system. As long as you hit certain rides at certain times you can avoid the crowds, even on a busy day.

Hey ive probably met you at cedar point, im there enough!! And thats me in the picture on the left
If you are just dying to get a ride in without having to wait, then go and ride Gemini. Frankly, I could ride that sucka' all day.

Also, if your looking to avoid the wait on the Force or Dragster, just get in line at the very end of the day. That way it isn't taking time out of your day.

AKA Cobraroller on Cbuzz

i won't ride the gemini more then once on my trips to cedar point. Id rather wait in another line then have a horribble migrane from the gemini.

If you get migraines from the Gemini, you'd better steer clear of the Mean Streak and Mantis.

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE
lol, gemini must be the smoothest ride ive ever ridden next to mf.
It seems on most of my trips this year that the Raptor line dies down to about nothing the last couple hours of operation......it's very easy to get 10+ rides in the last hour or so on a lot of days.

Oh, By the way when we where there in early July, right after all the tornado warnings and the hugh rain there was hardley anyone there, anyway, 2 days later MF and TTD were open and it was still an hour what for Rapter, 45 min. wait Mantis, walk on Dragster(just opened and befor Rapter)1 1/2 min. Iron Dragon, 30 Disaster Transport. But all the lines die down at night.

Three words saved my sanity: Theme Park Commando. Plan to visit in off-peak days (weekdays in June and September, weekends in May and October), arrive 30 minutes before official gate-opening, ride the biggest "not to be missed" rides in the first 60-90 minutes (TTD, MF), plan the rest of the day around your interests and ride capacity, leave the slow-loading rides (like Wicked Twister, Wild Mouse and Power Tower) until after the crowd thins out (around supper time). I learned this before going to Walt Disney World, and I trained my girlfriend (now wife) and another couple in the Theme Park Commando ways -- we never missed big attraction because we ran out of time, and we didn't spend a minute looking at a map and saying 'now where do we want to go'? (It takes the four of us 90 minutes to pick a restaurant when we're not on vacation.) It worked so well that we've used it in at least 5 non-Disney parks since (including Cedar Point). We would rather ride lots of coasters in 65 degree weather than spend 2.5 hours in a 100-degree lineup.

Oh but could you ride it 100 times? ;) (Mad props to the G100 gang...)

Everyone must wait their turn. Get in line and shut up. :-D

That pretty much says it all.

If you dont want to wait in line, then don't go, because most of the time there are lines.... and in some cases, very large lines

TTD: 4 (Rollbacks seen: 24)
MF: 18
WT: 8
"C'mon, get off the rails guys, listen to the guy with the Disaster Transport uniform on!"

its a well known fact that if you see a big line for a coaster, just move along to the next ride along or nearby which should have a shorter queue and then if you go back to the ride which had the long queue later in the day, it should be a lot shorter(It always works for me anyway ;) )

I am suprised at the complaints of long lines at CP though. CP has stunning throughput on all their rides and I remember when I went in 01, I was very impressed. Basiclly I went on a monday and tuesday(It was quite empty both day) but MF,Magnum,Iron Dragon and Raptor all ran 3 trains, and all other coasters ran at least 2 trains, Iron Dragon never even needed 3 trains on any day I was there(It was walk on all the time) but they kept 3 trains on all day on both days,Now thats what I call service :)

Top Thrill Dragster would have to stay open long enough to have success...

I went at the wrong time...on Music in the Parks day, as well as Amusement Park History convention...so here is what we waited...

3 1/2 hours for Mantis (the line stretched out into the midway, it was unbelievable)

1 hr, 45 minutes for Raptor

Early in the day, TTD was only 30 minutes

Blue Streak - 30 minutes

Corkscrew - 10

Magnum - 45

Mean Streak 1 1/2 hours

Millennium Force - 2 hr, 45 min

WT - 45 min

Disaster Transport - 1 1/2 hr (due to the cool air inside the building, hehe)

Cedar Creek Mine Ride - 20 min

Gemini - 30 min

A lot of those were front seat..MF and TTD were front seat, so it wasnt SO BAD, although I have seen a lot better days

I was at SF:Great America last Monday, talk about waits.

Cedar Point has less wait time by far.

SF:GA was a beautiful park, and I am not SF fan by any means.

They did have awfully innefficient dispatch times and on many rides they averaged 5-8 empty seats per. These were 1,2,and 3 seats together.

CP is is great on capacity considering the amount of people that go there. The ride ops deserve a lot of credit for their professionalism and efficiency.
