Waiting in Line Activities?

Hey everyone, I was just wondering what people do to pass the time in line...especially if the wait is a couple of hours? If I have to wait 4 or 5 hours in line for the Top Thrill Dragster, I would love to hear what people do to make the time go by faster. Thanks!
I spent most of my wait dodging the pointy little elbows of 4 young ladies thinking that if they continue to say, "Sorry!", every two minutes, what they were doing was fine. I wanted so bad to ask them to stop. But, I know how rough it was as an adult. I couldn't imagine standing in that line at the age of twelve or thirteen, so I let them have their fun. If you wanna call it that.

If you have or can get a group of 4 people, you can play euchre. Normal rules apply. Dealer deals. The two players to the left of the dealer hold out their hands to receive their cards. The 3rd person to be dealt to holds out both hands. The cards in his right hand are his, the cards in his left hand are the dealers. The dealer turns up the top kiddie card and takes his hand from the person to his right. Once a suit is ordered up, whoever is to play the lead card, places it in their palm, face up. Everyone plays their cards, into that persons hand. Whoever takes the trick, places it in their pocket. That person now leads off the same way and the same actions are repeated until the hand is over.

It makes it nice for all players to be wearing shorts or a shirt with pockets so that when you take a trick or when you are done with the kiddie, you have somewhere to put the cards.

A group of 4 guys were playing while waiting in line for WT last year and showed me. It makes the time go a whole lot faster.

Is what I just typed as confusing as it looks? It's just euchre, but using your pockets and other hand for a table.

My daughter and I spent our 2 hour Dragster wait alternating between playing Gameboy Advance and me drilling her on her multiplication facts. I'm kind of surprised I don't see more peeps with Gameboys in line. It really makes the time go by.
Hey Dougster, I can imagine that it must be difficult for younger riders to wait in those long lines. Last year, I was waiting in the MF line at night and I noticed that some younger riders seem to think that they can get on the ride quicker if they stand right behind you...I mean like breathing down your neck close but it didn't bother me that much since I know kids can be impatient sometimes.

Mr. Ninja, Thanks for that card game info...I was trying to think of some sort of game to play and that's a good idea. The only thing I could think of was "The Name Game." It will only be myself and my boyfriend waiting in line but maybe we can find some other riders to play with us! Thanks!

Hi RaptorForceXL200, yeah, I figured plenty of people would bring Gameboys...I was thinking about bringing my palm pilot since it is small and has some games on it.
My fiancee has the smallest SIMON game I have ever seen, it fits right into a pocket. That helped past the time away last year. I think she got it at Meijer.
Oh yeah, I think I have seen a SIMON game on a keychain and it is tiny!
I just though of this after writting the comment about the SIMON game, I got a Donkey Kong game that is small and on a key chain for Christmas last year. Guess what I will be playing this year. :)
I will be bringing Classic Football when i get it again...i wore my oldone out in a day or two. that or my classic baseball game fun fun fun times!

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!

I have one of those little MP3 players. So i'll be listening to music, passing time, watching trains speed by, and getting pumped up all at the same time. :)

I think I'm going to look kind of weird.. I'll have a digital camera, Cellphone and PDA on my belt when I go. thats like 10 pounds of crap on my belt
My iPod doesn't fit to well in my pocket any suggestions beside gameboy.
the portable minidisk player/recorders are amazing, they never skip, and you can put 3 hours of high quality music on a 50 cent disk (as opposed to 100 dollar flashcard for an mp3 player) also i like to take a pack of baloons with me and my friends and blow them up in line and bop them around like a beach ball. Some times you can get the crowd to play with you, other times they will pop it. im not sure if they would like this in the dragster line though,i imagine even hitting a baloon at 120 mph whould hurt.

Talk with friend(s). Only works for so long, though. Sometimes you can include others around you in the conversation, if the topic's interesting enough.

I have an iPod It fits fine in my pocket.

Haha, get to know your queue neighbor... you know, the person that you see every few minutes because they're on an opposite side of the queue rail :)

Also, I've always found that yelling things in line which call upon a response is interesting... "MSU stinks!" ;)

I'd imagine I'd just start playing games we used to play in the car while travelling for vacation... I spy, making fun of weird people, etc., but probably I will just wait for a rainy day or something when there's not many guests and I get off... I guess that's a def. perk of being an employee hehe
