Voice you opinion to CP about the assigned seating

I jost wrote a very nice Email to CP about why I dont think the Assigned seating does any good. Not that it will make any difference, but If you dont agree with it you should go voice your opinion about it on there web site under questions and comments! It may be are only hope to get them to Kill the assigned seating rule!
I think it does make a difference. It creates near zero confusion on the platform. Sometimes, Magnum's platform becomes pretty crowded as well as confusing, many times, they will let the station clear out some before opening the queue again. On Millennium Force you don't have any long lines blocking out a possibly empty seat. It also prevents people from cutting in front of you while you are standing in an imaginary seat qeueue.

But what is to stop them from adopting for Millennium Force the policy which is posted on the Raptor platform? There. it is noted that the front seat has limited availability, and that once the front seat queue is filled, one must pick another seat. How much time is lost on the Millennium Force platform because there is only one trainload of people in there at a time? What about people who really don't care whether they sit in the front seat or the back seat, but who just might want to try out that legendary middle row, or who are getting tired of always being shunted to the back of a middle car......

--Dave Althoff, Jr., who has yet to get any further back than car #6 and who would like to try Row #17 sometime...
To be honest, I don't think the assigned seating is such a good idea. The person letting people into the station can watch how full the station is getting and cut off the line into the station. The Magnum person should do this as well. That way, all of the seats will be filled and trains will depart just as fast as they always do.
The assigned seating is a real bummer if you like the front seat, but it sure causes the line to flow smoothly. So,

No I don't like assigned seating, but am willing to put up with it because as stated by Tyler, it helps cut down on the confusion. And another thing, if the front seat queue was filled there would always be someone trying to get the ride op to just let "them" on....You know, 1 more won't hurt.

In 15 rides I've only got to see the view from the front seat 1 time. And thank you Jesus it was during Coastermania. My daughter and I were 2nd and 3rd in line.

Hey, I just thought of something. Why would it matter if the front seat queue was open? It would still revert back to 2 in and 2 out as the ride ops let the people onto the platform.

Personally, I don't care what they do as long as I get to ride it that's all that matters.:)

Mantis How Much Can You Stand?
Why is it such a big deal if you are assigned a seat? Like Tyler said it creates less confusion on the platform.

Raptor is Assigning seats also. As for the force. I don't mind. I think any seat is a good one.

The "big deal" is some people have preferences. Mine is the front. If you don't care, great. But some do. Personally, I was very disappointed with this policy (and frankly surprised that Cedar Point of all places would have this). As for them changing it in the future - is it even possible given the size of the station? It seems to have been designed specifically (and permanently) for assigned seating. I mean, there is simply not enough room for people to line up for the front or back seats without clogging the whole station. I know the explanation given was to cut down on the wait time, but if handled properly (and with a large enough loading area) letting people select their seats should not slow the line, especially if you incorporate a single riders line. I was able to ride MF five times on my trip there last month, and I didn't even make it into the front two cars. For someone like me that has strong preference for a particular seat, that can make a huge difference in how much you enjoy the ride.

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.
"These trains were designed so well that every seat is a good seat."
Then the design failed - this is definitely a front seat ride (and on every other rollercoaster, i prefer the back to any other seat).
I actually like the policy. It really cuts down on all of the waiting. I also think that it does cut down on the confussion. You just have to be lucky. I got front car 2 out of 6 rides.
I am not impressed with this plan at all. If I waited 1 or 2 hours to ride a particular ride, I should have a choice of where I want to sit
There's nothing ENTITLING you to your choice of seat. I'd rather pick my seat also, but if it makes the line flow better, so be it. Everyone would want the front on this ride. The queue for the front would be permanatly full to a point where you'd be just as lucky to get the opportunity to wait for the front. If you think about it, it's really not that big of a deal. I bet you can ask a lot of other ride ops in the park, (i.e. Raptor, Magnum) that seats go empty because people simply can't see the queue lines. It's choas! MF's way works, and no matter how much you want the front, you have to admit it works.

First they take away the right to pick a seat, next its how many times you can ride each coaster, then how long each person is allowed in the park...its all apart of the communist conspiracy!
Just get me on an empty seat, my heart doesn't beat any faster in the front seat then it does in the middle or back.

I feel both ways about this. Wish there was a choice of seats, but at the same time,I see how smoothly things go,usually. I've been fortunate enough to have chosen my seats before the policy started. I have ridden front a few times. I feel sorry for all who have waited 3-4 hours(with 2 train operation)and got told they could not wait for any particular seat. It would be nice if the park could find a way to compromise. I agree, there
there will always be someone begging to wait even if line is full. But think they should try. They do such a wonderful job,and I think they will eventually change the policy.
While it would be "fun" to be able to pick your seat, I think the current process is the best and will be used for years to come.
Yes, I have had the fortune of waiting and riding in the front seat, on AAA Day. Right then and there we (I was with Jeff Putz) saw the need for a change in the seating procedure. EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE wanted to wait for the front. The ride ops had to move people into other seats.
Since Jeff & I were in the line early we were able to stay in the line for the front but behind us the line was closed off.
Could you imagine the posts on this and other boards along with the complaints at the park if CP let people wait for the front? You'd be in line watching less than half full trains leave the station.
It is a great ride whatever seat in the train. With the volume of riders the current operating procedure is the best to keep the line moving.
There has to be more than a few people on this board who remember this system on The Blue Streak.
Let's just sit back and enjoy the ride! *** This post was edited by Old Timer Tim on 6/14/2000. ***
you said it, Tim!! very well put and very eloquent as usual...

ride early, ride often!!!
Like I said, its just my opinion. I've managed to ride MF 9 times and have never been lucky enough to enjoy the front seat! Been in the back, Great seat! But I still want to ride in the front seat. I disagree with some of you. I think every seat on the ride has a different experience! ANyway, thats not the point here. The point is, people wait 2hrs. for a ride to find out they can not pick a seat they want! If anything there should be some sort of a sign out front telling you!
It seems to me that the people who are ok with the policy have ridden in the front and the people who complain haven't. I think they should let four trainloads in the station when the ride opens and let one trainload in when they dispatch a train. They would let you pick which seat you want and there would be a line for the front, but it would get blocked off once there are a certain amount of people in it. So that way if you can't get the front, you can get your second choice instead of a seat you don't want. With a constant four trainloads waiting, all of the seats would be full and there would be no confusion.
