Virus Impact on CP

He's not evading. Can't you read? He listens to everything. Countless sources. Countless. From all sides, at the same time, all while riding the elliptical. Sometimes while lifting the weights. The opinion he ends up forming is tremendous. Just tremendous. Far more tremendous than anyone else's. Perfect, in fact. In fact, it's simply the best opinion formed. Much better than Jeff's. Much better than yours. Certainly better than mine. In fact, been absorbing all forms of media since the age of 8.

Sounds like an oddly familiar tone...

Kevin, you’re degrading yourself. I never said I was better, or any of those things you implied. The Trump impression does not validate your argument, but the opposite.

I would expect a whole lot more from someone with your level of education.

Why can people not decide for themselves? Read everything Use your BRAIN and parse out the BS . Then draw your own conclusions. Isn’t this what they call “critical thinking” in college? Granted, it was a long time ago but the lessons are still fresh in my mind.

Degrading? Granted it wasn't my best stuff, but given the context that was pretty funny. Come on...you can practically hear Alec Baldwin in the background (and the fact that you picked up on the Trump inference makes me feel better).

I was expecting thicker skin from you, to be honest. I thought it was a pretty obvious exaggeration...only because you're still evading the question. You literally said there wasn't an answer. The logical conclusion, then, is that you are a consumer of all news and information from every perspective. Which, while I would love to believe to be true of every human, I'm just not buying. Convince me.

I'm also a little fascinated by your vitriol towards the NYT, which is considered a pretty credible source by anyone not wearing a MAGA hat (and no, I'm not implying you do). Left leaning? Sure...but it's also closer to the middle than, say, CNN.

Full disclosure; I get most of my news from NPR.

I'm wondering what the "right-leaning" equivalent to the NYT is.

Fuller disclosure; i actually teach a class on critical thinking. That doesn't make me an expert, but you might be surprised at how opened-minded I can be.

Maybe I took your tone the wrong way. Such is the internet. Sigh.

I don’t love the NYT, and it’s not just cause the boss calls it “failing”. Sure, it’s not as liberal as some, but they definitely scooped up a bulk deal on “jump to conclusions mats” several years ago (obvious movie reference here).

To be completely honest, I don’t have a favorite news source. WSJ is okay. Associated Press would be up there. On occasion, even Fox News lives up to their “fair and balanced” claim. Not the commentary shows obviously, but “Outnumbered” and the Five.

It sounds like you guys are trying to set me up by having me name some perfect news source. Well, there isn’t one. That’s why I listen to them all. The more you hear the variety, the more obvious the bias becomes when there is some.

I have very thick skin actually. I love my country and only want the best for my family and the people here. I don’t ever really get bent out of shape about things because I know politics invoke some of the deepest emotions (good and bad) in people and I really do try not to make enemies of people that I agree with 90% of things on. That other 10% is still important but, even if we aren’t grading on a curve that’s still an “A” right?

2 more post emails have been sent to workers since last discussed (from march 18th).

This is one of the best readings I have had on the subject.

It's from wired.com...I have no clue what their "bias" is, but I trust the source that they are talking to. Worth 5 minutes of your life. Shared from a friend of mine.

Perhaps your Political Pissing Matches could be held using the Private Message feature.

There is also a platform you could use with an audience full of “misinformed share-zombies’ mixed with ‘experts on the topic of the day’, you may have heard of facebook.

The administration isn't sending out anything, because Congress controls the purse, not the president.

I'm amazed at how many people don't remember this simple thing taught in government or civics class. Of course the good portion of the people on this site probably never had that class as it went the way of shop and home economics.

Govt. is required here in Ohio but at least in some circumstances it is only a quarter, with personal finance the other quarter. Home economics is still there in our district, but isn’t exactly a great college resume builder. (I use scouts for part of that). Shop has become Intro to Engineering Design, with a lot less tools and more Autodesk Inventor and 3D printing, but does offer college credit.

Going to get dragged for this but IMO Govt/Civics has become more “teach the state test” with a young new instructor and less some old guy with 30 years experience but has figured out how to inspire kids and make it fun with “big picture”. Also no School House Rock. 😭

Any ideas if Curtis and friends will be left at the farm for the 2020 season?

That's the question you have right now? Dude, we don't even know what today will bring.

Relax,

I am just trying to get the post back on topic.

The New York Times is a joke... I don’t have time to list them all here.

Because you have no such list. Heck, look at the home page right now, find a story not in the opinion section and show me the one with the lies. You can't.

CNN, MSNBC, and the aforementioned papers have made it pretty clear with their “reporting” the past few years that their mission is to take dow the president.

I can't speak to CNN or MSNBC, because I don't watch cable news as it's at best 90% op-ed and 10% actual news, however, there's a significant difference between a take-down and holding elected people accountable. Holding presidents accountable is literally the primary job of the press. To put in emotional terms like "take down" shows just how tribal you are.

I'm done with this topic, it has all turned political and I am not getting into it.

Wired is pretty down-the-middle, according to AllSides.

And that interview was excellent. Provides some hopeful outlook, as well as a pretty straightforward and apolitical critique of the administration's inadequate response.

Brandon

Well, at any rate...we know the park has completely stopped all mentions of a countdown to opening day (and for that matter has gone largely silent overall) for likely one of two reasons:

A: they are nearing an announcement that will indicate some sort of delayed opening.

B: to prevent potential disappointment in missing the opening date, they’ve decided to stop mentioning it for now with the potential to pick it back up should things return to normal.

I imagine this might the the first year that Cedar Fair does not have record attendance across its parks...at least not in the first two quarters.

K bye.

Now, come to find out, Republican senators left a briefing on the epidemic and immediately adjusted their stock portfolios saving themselves millions. They were given plenty of time, too, while the rest of us were assured the whole thing was just a hoax and told not to panic or even worry.
Despicable.

Primary job? Really? I thought that was the job of the other two co-equal branches of government. I thought the primary job of the press was to gather and disseminate information to the public. I was way off!

To put in emotional terms like "take down" shows just how tribal you are.

If you don't think the last three years have been an organized attempt at a take-down by the leftist media and democrats, you really haven't been paying attention. Hell, it started even before he was elected.
