Viacom To Sell Paramount Parks?

Maybe jump off the Eiffel tower at PKI a couple of times. ;)

I saw the commercials for Wanado City, they're playing them all over Miami.

Judging by the commercials, they are in no situation to be making this purchase. But then again, what do I know?

2005/2006: Cedar Point - Millennium Force
2007/2008/2009: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland Speedway
2008: Hard Rock Park - Maximum RPM! Opening Supervisor
2008/2009: Universal Orlando - Men in Black: Alien Attack Team Leader, Guest Services Coordinator

I think the second Wannado City is being built at a "Mills" mall in New Jersey. It will be indoors and outdoors and juding by the model they have at the one here in Florida, it will have more of a "park" feel. I think they even had a rollercoaster in the plans.

The company that owns Wannado is out of South America and I think they are the biggest amusement company down there. They might have the capital/clout to pull something like this off but as I said earlier, it sounds like there was already something in the works.

Maybe there is a Saudi oil magnet looking to invest. That is the reason Euro Disney didn't go belly up already.

I think CF should at least buy one or two parks, maybe to expand their geographic outreach. Buying Carowinds would give them their first southeastern park, so that would be cool. I highly doubt that Six Flags would buy any though...

A poster over at PKICentral claims to have received this e-mail. Take it for what it's worth.

Hey, can someone post a link to that? I can't find it.

Sorry about that Walt. Did not realize. Here's the link.

I hope this is ok.

Funny, we linked to the same news story on CoasterBuzz, but there was zero mention of any other potential suitors.

If it smells like crap...

I've seen that plate around ;)

2005 Season- 5 visits
maXair- 4 Spins
Dragster- 36 and ONE ROLLBACK

I wouldn't be surprised to see a group like that of investors buy it. Then, I wouldn't be surprised to see another chain to buy them out after they run the parks into the hole. ;)

I doubt Busch would touch any of the parks. It's not exactly a trade secret that Auggie the 4th isn't a big fan of the company having anything to do with parks or any kind.. Could be an interesting time for Busch when Auggie the 3rd retires.

If thats true, why do you think there are 2 Busch Gardens parks already?Im not being argumentative,I would really like to know.

Those parks have been around for decades. Certainly enough time has passed for them to have decided it's a distraction from their core business.

I think that Cedar Fair should wait untill Duff Gardens goes up for sale then snatch that.

I dont care who buys them, but my first choice would be Busch, second Cedar Fair and last 6 Flags.Kings Island was a fabulous park until Paramount bought it.It will probably never return to its former self, but it would have to be an improvement.

I don't think you've spent much time at PKI lately. 2000 was a tough year because of the problems with SOB, but I'm absolutely amazed at the turn around at that park. That, my friend, is why we're doing BeastBuzz again this year as the premier CoasterBuzz Club event.

I was there last year and was bored to tears. There's more to an amusement park than rollercoasters.I wont be going back unless ownership changes and it becomes something like it used to be until 1993.I miss the animals and the shows, that was a big part of the attractions to me.Taking a ride on that suspended train and looking at herds of antelopes, wildebeast and Rhinos, was spectacular.Taking in a great show and ice skating at the festhouse was also fabulous.I wont bore you with more details,it was after all 13 years ago.

You've got to be kidding me! There is more to a park than coasters, and PKI has it. The water park is top notch, the collection of other rides is better than average (Tomb Raider, Delirium, the Thornberries flume, a great carousel, Drop Zone, the Scooby dark ride... need I go on?). The live entertainment is fairly diverse. No one has a better kids area.

I think you see what you want to see.

I will have to agree with Jeff on the more to a park than coasters. While my main passion are the coasters, when I went to a park like Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, I went with my mother and spent very little time riding their rides. And I still enjoyed myself from the other great attractions and attention paid to theming.

PKI is a great park, I don't understand how someone could think it doesn't have a variety of entertainment.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

PKI has stepped into the category of premier parks in the US along with CP (duh!), IOA, DW, and BGW+BGT. *** Edited 3/9/2005 10:08:32 PM UTC by Fastball84***
