Very strange pieces now on site

thats going to be some big overbank.....

**Alert** Quoting etiquite has been violated! :)

What ever the curvature is for, it's going to have to be a massive radius to reduce the amount of G's on the riders...even the overbanks.

I don't understand why almost everyone has it set in their heads that the track we've seen is for the pullout. The pieces currently behind Mean Streak could easily be part of an overbank, or the transition between overbanks. Check this pic to see what I mean.

I was thinking the same thing James. It is definitely quite possible that this is for an elevator-type car, very similiar to the kind on MF.

T-452 (big D) will be going pretty fast if the curvature of those pieces is so light!

I never said it would be for the pullout, I just stated that the radius looks very large...

I've always wanted to quote myself...

The closest I'll ever get to riding a B&M Flyer is looking down while on Raptor... :(

When traveling that fast, turning isn't too easy without causing high G's, so a large overbank is the solution. Also, that's what Xcelerator had.

Up until Wicked Twister all Impulses had only one twisted spike. Just because Xcelerator has overbanks doesn't mean all rocket coasters will have overbanks. Maybe we'll end up with a bunch of bunnyhops (very big ones, or highly trimmed bunnyhops) or a huge helix, or nothing at all. Maybe the coaster will just stop at the top of the tophat. Just food for thought.

But don't you know that the inflexible coaster laws of the universe forbid such a change?

My head hurts from slamming it into a wall (which is actually less painful than reading this forum lately).

Sorry, Jeff. I haven't been reading much Hawking lately.

I've gotten to the point where I regret even making the initial post about the "footers" on opening day. Of course, it would have just been a matter of time until somebody else did. Yeah, in that post I said "...decide for yourself what's going on..." but come on people, give it a rest. Yes there's something big coming, yes it's Intamin, yes it's probably launched, but there HAS to be more to life than this ride.

Am I excited? You bet your butt I am. But am I spending every waking hour dreaming up something new that this ride could be and then *****ing about not having an announcement yet? No. I see track, I see footers, I see 3 rides closed. That's all I see. Of course I'm hear rumors and people who tell me they "know for sure", but I don't totally believe any of them. I'm holding my judgement until the announcement and apologize to the parties who "know for sure" later if they're right.

I do have the feeling though that all of you guys expecting the most grand thing you've ever seen will be disappointed. Especially since most of you are expecting a ride on the magnitude of Xcelerator with vertical loops, helices and overbanked curves out the yin-yang.

Cedar Fair parks (esp. Cedar Point) used to be a showcase for rides of the industry, but as of late they have been becoming just another park. We are starting to get "Six Flags style" rides from CF parks with Steel Venom and all the S&S tower rides. Heck! Look at the picture on the Valleyfair webpage. This disturbing trend is leading me to believe that I should NOT expect anything hugely overwhelming from any CF park anymore but should instead be prepared for a disappointment until proven otherwise.

Flame away folks, I'm sorry that I have an opinion.

Are you contradicting yourself? In one sentence you say you are holding your judgments intil after the announcement, but in the same breath, you are saying you will be disappointed intil proven otherwise? Am I correct in this assumption

*Gasp!!* Micheal!! How dare you slander a Cedar Fair park!! And of all Cedar Fair parks, Cedar Point! Don't you know that just becuase Cedar Point got the Golden Ticket Award for 'Best Park' since the birth of Christ, that it's the 'One All, End All of Parks?'

Micheal does bring up a good point though. Just becuase CP is rumored to be building the tallest whatever in the world, really doesn't mean that it's going to be the best. I could come up with gobs of reasons and examples to back that up. However, flamers will just disect whatever I say and turn it around so that I'm wrong.

Another point Micheal brings up is that it really doesn't matter when the announcement is. What's coming, is coming. If they announce it tomorrow does that mean the ride is going to open up any sooner? Why don't you all just enjoy the rest of what you have left of this season... Later...

Rob,

This is what should have been said a long time ago. Why can't some people grasp that concept? Truth is, they're getting a coaster. Maybe since I'm not as "hardcore" as some around here, I'll never fully understand what point there is to beating such a topic into the ground. Just like how I can't understand how people can't be happy with the fact that CP is getting something, and not just something, but an Intamin coaster!

And people wonder why "enthusiasts" get a bad name.

I don't understand why some people complain about others contemplating the new ride. The whole point of the Area 51 forum is to have fun while guessing right?

I'm sorry if I wasn't supposed to have fun, but ever since this forum category has been opened I've been having the time of my life when I come home from work or school.

People on here should be able to state what they are thinking, while going by the rules of the forums without having to finish their posts with "let the flaming begin"

Anyone who is trying to take that away from the visitors on here are getting on my nerves because I'm positive that I'm not the only one on these topics that is getting annoyed with people who just love to critisize people who are having fun.

So listen to me here, and think about it... Shouldn't you be having fun too? I'm not going to mention any names or anything... You will know if this applies to you...If you are having fun while critisizing everyone, there is something seriously wrong with you.

This is what should have been posted a long time ago... not stupid points like "we are getting a coaster, and its not going to open until may, so why wonder about the announcement date"... I make sense. I Know a lot of people are going to appreciate this point...

Here's a point to ponder...

I *was* having a lot of fun reading this forum. I've only been checking back here periodically to see if any factual stuff pops up. Here's why the fun ended- It's so unbelievably repetitive. It never ceases to amaze me how lame some people can be with this stuff. As Ride of Steel just pointed out, GO OUTSIDE. Do it while it's still nice enough too. You want fun? Go make some friends, go play video games, do anything that doesn't involve sitting with your eyes glued to this fourm.

I've always had fun with this great interest/hobby we all share, but I'm quickly growing really tired of whining, speculating out the ying-yang, and know-it-alls who "heard on the intarweb" that park "a" is getting a ride. I come to this site and CoasterBuzz a couple times a day because I'm interested in what's going on, and the mods do the best job they can in getting rid of the junk. In some ways, though, we need to moderate ourselves to a point.

For awhile, it was really fun to read here. The outlandish speculating was so obnoxiously funny. It's gotten to the point now that it's just not funny anymore. What's even worse is that some of you (haha I won't name any names) take everything here *so* seriously. Learn to laugh, know how to have fun, BUT know where to stop.

Time to get off my soapbox now.

Thats exactly what I mean... and I'm not here ALL the time, its just a thing I like to do for maybe an hour or so a day, and if there is a topic going on I'll occasionally join in instead of lurking like usual.

But because I really havent been a part of the big conversations going here, and I've just been watching I can tell what is going on, and why I'm not having as much fun as I used to, just like you said Tobe... I wish people DID know where to stop... that was the whole point of my post above...

I agree with TwistedWicker02. I am only on here for about an hour after the kids have gone to bed for the night. I like to see what everyone is speculating about. It'd be nice to see some more facts however, but soon enough that will happen. It is a little frustrating to see people say over and over again "go out and enjoy the fresh air." Well, of course we all do that! This is just a place to relax after enjoying the fresh air. ::smile:: I think because the park has been closed most of this week, there is not too much to be able to talk about. After this weekend I am sure there will be MUCH more to talk about!

Now, considering this forum's name "Very strange pieces now on site" ... does anyone have any more pics of any new pieces? Maybe since tomorrow is Friday...someone will get some new info and pics for us, the GP.
