Walt did you get to see what is going on at WWL? Is there a coaster going up?
Nice try.

Even if he knows, I'd be willing to bet my season pass that he wouldn't tell any of us.
Blue Streak crew 2007
ATL Matterhorn Tri. 2008
Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Yes, Walt does have close ties with the park and is invited to things like walkthroughs. That's why he is so careful about what is actually put up here.
I agree with others who say this is an eyesore. This thing doesn't have that big a footprint. It seems to me there were plenty of other options of where to put it if they weren't going to at least make an effort to make it blend in with the surroundings.

Maybe they placed it there in hopes that it would stick out like a sore thumb. Since there's little else there that is as tall, it helps emphasize the size of the ride.
But, I do agree that it looks out of place.

Call me old school.
Me too. This is the first real intrusion into FT that P&D didn't even *bother* trying to blend in, beyind the vaguely old-timey feel of the sign graphic. Way up on top of the two big shiny metal posts.
I had an inkling this would be the outcome after reading the following Decker quote on the blog:
We had originally considered theming Skyhawk to ‘blend in’ more with its surroundings. However, our rides are the theming. We have a beautiful location that no other park has. In most cases, the environment is also the theming.
As soon as I read that, I thought it was a mistake.
Of course, as we are all fond of saying, Cedar Point is an amusement park, not a theme park.
But still.
I understand what you guys are saying, but Decker is right. If this was Magic Kingdom, it'd be a different story.
You mean like using a tree filled with Poo(h) to replace a submarine ride?
At least CP management knows better than to do that.

I think the return of row markers would be wonderful.
I think it is a fine ride. Not one I would have picked for this season considering MaxAir but a fine ride in any event.
I just think either the location is wrong or the color scheme is wrong. Or course, if this is the beginning of a major change to the dynamic of Frontier Town then I guess we can expect more of the same.
If you look at Town Hall and Snake River Falls it looks like Nickelodeon threw up in the middle of the two.

I agree SH sticks out, but it is an amusement park (not a theme park) and you see rides and stuff like that in an amusement park. Also there was really nothing there before so it will take some getting use to seeing it. I never herd so many complaints about a new ride, some other people would be happy if there home park got this kind of ride. (I know I would)
RIDE ON, and ON and ON and ON and ON and ON...
I think almost all of us are happy with the new ride, CP03. There's just some of us that question the, ahem, "logic" used in choosing the colors and general appearance of the ride. And while you do see rides like that in an amusement park, you also see rides like CCMR, SRF, MS and others - all of which manage to fit in quite nicely in FT.
Chief Wahoo - That's by far the best description yet! :)

I'll see your row markers, and raise you a parking lot tram.
Anyway, I know this is an amusement park and all that, and I suspect this isn't going to be the last Big Shiny Steel Thing that goes back there, but this does mark a change for the atmosphere back there.
Of course, you could argue that the atmosphere needed to be changed, as the back end of the park can be pretty darn dead.
A "pretty darn dead" atmosphere can be relaxing.:) I liked the atmosphere that FT provided (Dragster midway more;)), but maybe it is time for a change.

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
Seriously, I'm on the fence. I don't despise change but that area was such a unique aspect of the park and even MF didn't intrude on the trail too much the way it was designed.
Was there a sale on those paint colors?

Its one thing to look at a webcam at a half-finished area.
Im going to reserve judgement until opening day.
Think about it; with the queue all done, the "facelift" of the lighting and etc. to Frontier Land, the op. station all done, the landscaping...
Something tells me it will fit right in.
Something else tells me that after you ride it and cant wait to get back on, you wont care if its purple with yellow polka dots.
But seriously...wait until youre there and its all finished!
