Great update. The pond area will look especially nice once they are done.

Hey, umm, what's going on in this picture? Anyone?

Brandon

Bolts fastening two pieces?

Ah, of course. ;)

The only reason it concerns me in the least is because those pictures are from Sunday, and there hasn't been any work done during the weekends. So this was presumably left this way for the entire weekend, which just seems odd to me.

Brandon

Looks to me like something isnt lining up in that pic.

I guess so, but jeez. When I worked as a laborer, I was like Fred Flinstone at the end of the day, and even I wouldn't leave something unfinished like that. Unless that support is being held up by something else, those bolts won't last nearly as long as they're designed to.

The one in the middle looks like they just stuck a piece of copper tubing into the hole. Its not even bolted in.

Is it just me, or does the sign in this picture look like its photoshopped in?

It sure does - the angle of the sign doesn't really match the angle of the post, though I can't imagine anyone going through the trouble.

Brandon

I know the sign is there. It just looks PS'd in. It just doesn't look right. It could be because the post behind it is dark and weathered, so the lighting looks off. Its just weird.

Yeah, they sure are letting that post deteriorate, aren't they? ;)

If anyone recalls the conversation from about a week ago, that's one of the pieces that they installed on Saturday the 16th. They had been using come-a-longs and prybars to get it into place. Then during the following week they swapped that piece with another piece that looked virtualy identical. I thought they switched the pieces to fix the problem, but obviously there is something still wrong. In regards to the piece sitting on top of it. I have no idea what it is, but it does not line up with the bolt holes. What ever it is, it is just sitting there.

In regards to the sign, it is not photoshopped.

So, is this all confirmed stuff that has happened? Because from an engineering standpoint, there would be a serious liability issue with swapping a piece with one that "looks virtually identical"!

Something about that doesn't seem believable.

The "swapping" was my interpretation based on the webcam images taken that day. I have a image capture program and when I reviewed the images from that day, it looked like they took off piece "A", then took off piece "B". Then based on where set they pieces down, it seemed to me that they put piece "B" were "A" was and then put "A" where "B" was.

They could just as easily have put the pieces right back where they were. In addition I only said the pieces looked virtualy identical because I don't know. They could have been identical. If I said they were identical, I would have had a dozen people slamming me about not having proof of anything. I guess I should have said they seemed to be identical. Maybe they were suposed to be the same but when they didn't fit, they decided to try switching them.

Here is a link to a few of the webcam images from the "swap" day.

I don't want to start a huge debate or speculate on whether something is in fact wrong or not. Because it is in fact all speculation. I'm just providing my opinion based on a few things that I have seen. :)

That has nothing to do with it. Google it. The only thing strange is that it was not accompanied by a pine tree. It has long been a tradition to top-off steel structures with a flag and a tree.

Doing so, I found that it is typically the evergreen that symbolizes a lack of injuries or deaths.

So does that mean someone's gotten hurt already?

If this is any indication of their safety practices, are you surprised?
