I don't think it's always quite as much of an art as it seems. Some are done with extreme precision, but others aren't. Look at the footers around the Millennium Force station for the transfer track and brake run (I looked for a good picture but couldn't find one that shows it very well), and you'll notice that they supports aren't perfectly in the center of the footer. Some are much closer to the edge on one side than they are on the other; They're clearly not centered at all. Now, granted, I'm not saying this is always true, or anything like that; it might only be Millennium, that's the only place I've really ever noticed it, but it does show that the footers aren't always, necessarily down to a perfect science.
That is because MF is sinking, didn't you get the email?
Could this be where the station is going? http://www.pointbuzz.com/gallery.aspx?i=4078
It is like the MF station pic below in that it has small square footers right by larger footers. Just a thought.

"Maverick riders how was your ride......Ah ok, Next riders we are gonna take you up an unbelievable 500ft, and drop you straight down, and flip you 16 times, over a 3 mile track Enjoy!!!!"
At 500 ft, I'm sure the coaster would be moving really fast for it to have inversions in it. You'd probably just have airtime hills, and a bunch of overbank turns.
For this ride im really expecting to see something like Colossus at Thorpe Park. If you look at pictures http://www.rcdb.com/ig1412.htm you can really see some things that look really similar, especially the way that the footers are paired through alot of parts of the ride. I think CP could put together something amazing that could break the inversion record along with having a ride thats 300' tall with Millenium Force speeds. A couple Zero-g rolls in a row at 100 mph could be something spectacular, alot like coming down dragster is. Other inversions could be done easily at high speeds as long as they were done big enough to even out the forces. What would you think of a 200'+ tall Loop or Cobra Roll?
Mechanical Engineer: Dont mess with us, we design your coasters.
