Update: August 28

Good guess TTD! I guess we'll find out officially in 9 days what it really is...can't wait!

That looks about right, however I dont think the s-turns will imediately follow the drop. See those two large footers that are near the bottom of the drop youve drawn? That is where I think the higest point of the ride will be, then do a twisting drop, do some stuff (technical term ;) ) then later meet up with that swoop into the s-turns.

I actually thought of that when I made that. My answer is that the support for the drop will be similar to wicked twisters tower supports, in that it'll create a type of A frame supporting the drop. There's already evidence to support it (pun intended :)) with those slightly angled 8 holed supports.

Wow I don’t think I’ve said support sooo many times in one post.:)

I marked up your drawing to show you what I mean.

YAY for marked up drawings. :)

I agree that the highest point will be where you indicated, but your "do some stuff" is where you lose me. I mean, there's no convincing direction the train would go after the drop in your drawing. If it heads over the S-curves, then where's it go? Under the lift? Then where does the train come back into the station? Its doesn't appear to be on the bottom (the track they just completed today).

GRRRRR!! Come on Snoopy, fly faster. Make the 9 days go away!! :)

Never saw structure like that before. Ehh who cares...we will find out in a few days.

Have you seen Wicked Twister before? :)

Good point, ok....never seen structure like that before on a coaster with the track above the supports. And if that were the case, why space out the end ones even more?

I agree that it most likely won't look like that. But, wasn't MFs lift and TTD's tower "new" structures too? Had we seen those before in the coaster world? Maybe the structure on Maverick's tower will be "new"?

I guess you haven't checked out Xcelerator or Storm Runner. (Adam was faster than me)

I just don't get it why so many of you refuse to believe this is a launch coaster. What sense would it make to have a LIM lift hill? When chain or cable lifts are more reliable and cost less to operate. The only reason California Screamin' uses a LIM lift is because of its location, they needed a quiet ride to fit with its close proximity to other places and to fit the atmosphere of Disneyland. CP doesn't have to worry about sound (see Skyhawk).

So with that said... the drop is looking to be at a 90 degree angle. Cause all of those supports are holding Vertical track :D

Who said it wouldnt be a launch coaster? And there are a few rides out there with mid course booster LIMs. No offense to anyone but dropping straight into the s-turns would be pretty boring IMO. I strongly think this ride will do more before it gets to the S-turns.

Gomez - We believe its going to be a launch HILL because the track in the staging area illustrates this. You can see the lift pieces which have the LIM attachment plates on them. You can tell they're lift hill pieces because they have the "outriggers" for the emergency stairs. You can tell its a hill because the apex to the hill is sitting by the fence in the staging area. THAT'S how we can tell its going to be a launched HILL. We took clues from the pieces sitting in the staging area, combined those clues with footings and layout already in the project area and then used logic to deduce that its going to be a launched hill. :) Simple as that really.

Could we be wrong? Sure. But, did we back up out theories with data visible on site? Yip.

I don't really see anything on-site that backs up your theory of a flat launch. Granted there's most likely a mid-course "flat" launch under the lift hill, but where's the track that supports the theory of a chain or cable lift? Personally I don't see any.

Theres a huge crane on the webcam right now. (Huge compared to the rest of the ride)

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

Looks like the same crane to me. Am I missing something?

Nevermind.......BOOM new thing killed lol.

That crane isn't there right now, but I'm sure it will be back. Right now, all over northeast Ohio, it just looks really gloomy outside like it's about to rain. Almost looks like it's raining outside up there.

In this picture, if you look at the 2 pieces of track on the flatbed behind one of the corkscrews, isn't the higher piece a curved 2-rail? It appears like it's next to be erected, which seems odd to me considering all track so far has been triangular. *** Edited 8/29/2006 11:16:55 PM UTC by Erikjc***
