you can almost expect smooth since most track is produced by computers. Not formed by hand like Magnum was :)

I hated Magnum the past times I've been on it because it's too rough but this year I decided to go and Loved it!

Walt, I have a couple comments and a question.
First, I love the MidwayVision's.
Second, it's not a big deal but, this midway didn't merge to gether quite right. I know the merge process isn't perfect, but I think if you used the automerge, it screwed up on the right hand side. http://www.pointbuzz.com/midwayvision/project2007mv77.jpg
Third, did you have to get special permission to take the pictures on perimeter rd?

Well, I only ask because your not suposed to, and I thought I remembered seeing Walt mentioning it to other people. I don't really care either way, I was just curious.

Oh yeah, Magnum is rough- but I love it. The trick is to put one foot on the thing in front while you have your hands in the air!
Mantis is horribly rough, though. I like it but I hate it at the same time.
"THE Top Thrill Dragster...THE Millennium Force...THE Wicked Twister...THE Magnum! How do you like those apples?!?!?"
Great Update! I have a theory as to why they started construction this early. Not because the ride is going to be super huge or have a lot of themeing, but because it is free advertising. I was at CP on Thursday and all people were talking about by Mean Streak/Skyhawk is the new ride going up. Just about everyone that walked by the construction site would peek through a hole or stand on a bench and peer over the wall. It is the easiest way to create hype. Build the ride during the season so people get excited and come back the next year to ride it. Well done CP.

Looks like I had the photos out of order. I'll fix it tomorrow.
I was there with a member of the marketing team. Pedestrians are not permitted on the road and if you stop with your car, the police will ask you to move along.

Leslie, I know exactly what you mean about loving and hating Mantis at the same time. You can't help but like the ride, but it can be killer on the legs and head.

great pictures! :) I been waiting for these. That inversion looks sweet.
When are the arial photos comming in?
I think it would be wild if they either totaly enclosed this part of the ride:
http://www.pointbuzz.com/midwayvision/project2007mv74.jpg
Or enclosed the curved banks, then opened the spaces where the quick transitions are. I think that would really give the whillys, and a feel of going really fast. But That is my opinion, and not a hint to how the construction is going to be :)
This may have been brought up before and I missed it. But don't all those long, flat, ground-hugging sections suggest this coaster is going to have some kind of gimmick trains? Not necessarily a 4d, but something like that? Why else have a coaster follow flat track for such distances?
My sentiments exactly. Though I don't think it will be remotely like a 4d. I like the drifting coaster hypothesis that's been bouncing around.

I didn't see this pic anywhere on pointbuzz so I will just use point pixels, but what in the world is there flat track for?

One thing I thought about was for a place with little clearance, but who knows. Anybody have any good ideas?
Also there were new blue supports spotted at construction site. Don't look too sturdy;), but very cool...

^ The blue things are pipe/conduit and there's been flat track in the staging area for a while now, although that particular piece I haven't seen before.
wow.. thats some thick pipe/conduit. That must mean some very very heavy theaming! Can you imagine the amount of wires and/or water you can pump throuh the size of that pipe/conduit?
But its right where a support is... interesting..
wow, I wish they would just announce it. First red track and tan supports, NOW green track and blue supports.. dang.. whats next?
;)
