We left the more than 110 hours of continuous snow on the far west side of Cleveland and made the 40 minute trip to Huron for Easter dinner. I had been wanting to try out some new equipment, new software, and new photography techniques, so I made a quick detour.
It didn't turn out nearly as well as I hoped, but I figured it was still good practice and worth sharing. The unrelenting wind certainly didn't make it easy.

Walt - That looks GREAT!!!!
Thanks for sharing. :)
Edit: Maverick looks so tiny when you compare it to the rest of the coasters. I'm sure it won't feel the smallest, but that's a great shot for comparison. *** Edited 4/9/2007 10:55:15 PM UTC by halltd***
Does anyone have a frame that's 11.5 times as wide as it is tall? :)

I think you would need to buy at least two of those cheap panorama style frames from Wal-Mart to get it wide enough...if you're printing it big enough to hang across a wall.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
You know what would be really cool to do with that picture? Make it into wallpaper border -- you know, that stuff that's five or six inches wide that you adhere around the room just under the ceiling. That would make for one amazing border.

Ensign, you are my hero! I've been trying to think of a way to have some sort of CP-related wall border. :)

Walt, may I please respectfully request another take when it's a blue sky?
If it's not too much to ask.
I suppose I could Photoshop it but it would lose its nostalgia. :)

Ride on, MrScott!
Ya know what's funny. In this picture, TTD and ID look like the same coaster because of their color. Even though you can only see a couple sections of ID, it makes TTD look more like Xcelerator. Sorta cool.
CP has undeniably the best skyline of any amusement park out there.
Maverick doesn't do much to add to the skyline, but still looks great.

Really nice! Now just imagine that same panorama on a bright and sunny July day with Maverick complete and the park alive. :)

I was looking for some kind of panoramic picture (preferably a night shot) that would have the coasters all lit up. I would turn it into one of those fancy lighting decorations that uses fiber optics in the place of the lights. It wouldn't be that hard to build, but it's going to be huge if I used that same size pic. Sounds confusing I know, but once I get the basics, I'll post a pic of the plans.

Yeah, I'll definitely be shooting it again. I'm also going to do this one again, except with a wider lens.

Thank you, Walt. You have just fed my jones for another month. That's a great pic. And the fiber optic pic sounds cool as well. I can't wait to see the final design.
