First person to put the pics with the footers together and make a projected layout gets a cookie from me.
This was done with SFoG's Goliath last year, with some footers and an aerial view. (I've also heard something about blueprints? Anyone care to say more? I don't know too much about the situation behind it...)

finally I believe the last element will be a nice double helix over the pond....
I think that the helix over the pond is too large to be at the end of the ride. I think that it will have to be the first or second element of the ride to have enough speed to make that big of a helix worth while.

However, I'm diggin' Josh M.'s theory of the banked first drop going away from Mean Streak. I think the drop will end a few feet from the lagoon/pond with they appear to be saving even redigging. Maybe a decent sized loop after that?
Also, in this pic:

It appears that there is going to be some quick, sharp, little element right before the train gets back to the station area. Maybe interlocking corkscrews?
Finally, there are so many different types of footers onsite. Do all coasters have this many types of them?
Would you be satisfied with my crazy, bored, 1:30am drawing?

The black is the station, the green are the "goliath" type twist-turns, the yellows are overbanked turns and the purple is a helix.
I'm going to bed. =P
You missed some track over by the former site of antique cars (when taken to another park).

Well, if you try to look at all of this with some logic, you can get a good idea of what could be.
For example, the footers in the curved trench area by the plywood fence have a large base with two vertical sets of rebar each. To me, that means either support for track high off the ground(thus the need for a double support), or possibly two side-by-side tracks low to the ground. The possibilty of two low tracks next to each other sounds fun to me. A red track dueling a blue track with all white supports would be a nice fit for an "Americana" themed midway.
Though while it sounds fun, so did the idea of having lots of cool elements after the Dragster hill. So the simplest explanation (probably the most accurate one) is that the curved trench area will be for a high off the ground single track.
So I took one of Walts new aerials and connected some dots. I only connected what I felt pretty comfortable with. The black is the probable fence by the RR, the blue is the track plan so far. Areas with single footers would be sections of track low to the ground while areas with double footers would be for higher track sections. Based on how incomplete it still feels to me, I would say there are definitely more footers coming.

Ever consider a midcourse launch right before the helix?... Talk about a great ending to the ride...
Im still thinking this ride will be a similar to California Screamin'... Fun and thrilling, but not record breaking. I also believe there will possibly be multiple launches, but a traditional or cable lift to start the ride. I dont think we will see the woodie looking supports like you find on California Screamin'.... even though that would fit in well in Frontiertown...
I'm just as excited as the next person to see how this pans out...
I will admit though... my earlier theory about the banked first drop doesn't seem to competely work out... Wouldn't there need to be some decent sized footers for the pullout from the drop? Even if its only 150' or so?... Where I would expect the drop to be, there are no footers whatsoever at this point...
Oh well, enough speculation... Time for bed... Thank the Lord for a Holiday tomorrow...

Right, no super height, but what looks like a very strong possibility is the use of many very low winding turns (Sidewinding?). I believe the double foundation in many areas supports this. This would use a vertical steel support for the track and a diagonal support for the force the train places on the track in a banked turn. It looks like the final element into the station run is a severly banked (probably low) turn. Fast low turns close to the ground seem even faster if things are whizzing by (Reminds me of the reason for alternate color track on TTD). Aside from the lift hill, it looks like there won't be many strait pieces of track. Again, I am wondering about the early schedule, but hope this means some very interesting scenic pieces whizzing by during the ride. It's all about the perception of speed, and not the measured speed.

Beware the Kraken
Although a long time reader of these forums this is my first post. I think it is quite possible seeing how early that they have started and how early track is arriving, that they have a significant amount of work to accomplish before opening day 2007. They may still have footers for this coaster that cannot be poured until the end of the season due to them being located outside of the current construction area.(ie. why take out antique cars or move waveswinger before necessary). Just an idea! It does seem that we may be in store for more than just a new coaster.Like others have speculated perhaps a complete overhaul of frontiertown. Maybe a new flat as well. Time will tell!
If there REALLY is that big open space in the middle of the roller coaster, what about the possibility of a different, water-type ride, surrounded by the new coaster?
Everyone knows that Cedar Point makes good use of space. I think that if this entire area is being redone, and they were considering adding a water ride, and the took out a water ride that is being replaced (seemingly) with a coaster that doesn't really incorporate water....I think this could happen.
Also, it would give more reasons to complete a coaster first, or as they are working on other things for the other ride...
Just an idea!
There are definately more footers on the way. You can already tell where the beginning and end of the ride are, and what they are. This is going to be a fun season!

I completely agree. I'm thinking something along the lines of California Screamin'

I agree with water being involved. I'm also picturing this new coaster weaving in and out, up and down, and around a mountian.....

I'm just not sold on the fact that CP is going to take on any major theming project such as a mountain. This would take millions of dollars that could be spent on other rides, nice landscaping, or things more fitting with the rest of the park. Just my opinion though!
Walt, great pics, complimented nicely by Sigma's artwork, thank you!
I think clearly more footers are on the way, and given the early start and possible announcement in August, I also think the ride will be verticle before the end of the season. While CP's promotions say they're going in a different direction, I can not believe this ride either won't break a record or be unique, given the early start.
The curved trench with footers is very interesting imo. I have to assume the ride will be over 100 feet, yet the distance from the proposed station is not significant, even with a 45 degree cable lift, to the curved trench. Could this be another launched ride?
