I think you'll probably need all black if you're being a food hostess.
Pretty much the best way to tell if a shoe is acceptable is to say "What color is this shoe?" to someone and if they only say one color, it'll be fine.
I had no problem getting away with wrongly colored shoes a few times when I forgot to bring my crappy work shoes to the park.

I suggest not just getting the cheapest shoes you can find (or the wardrobe shoes, although I've known quite a few people who were just fine with wardrobe shoes). I'd even suggest throwing in some gel inserts or arch supports if you have ever had any kind of arch discomfort. Your feet will thank you for it. I had decent shoes and still had to get a new pair in early July because the bottom of the shoes had completely broken down, leading to a couple of weeks of really uncomfortable foot pain.

Yeah, quality shoes are a must. I recall when I was working in resort foods I had just bought a nice new pair of New Balances that were comfortable and functional but were only 88 percent black at most.
My Blue tag knew that I couldn't work in foods wearing only my socks without endangering the department's star eligibility so he checked with his Double Blue who agreed that I'd need to keep wearing the non-conforming shoes for the time being but initially threatened to revoke my bonus eligibility. As a concession he did, however, refer the problem to the attention of a handful of silver tags who were completely baffled. After caucusing, reading and re-reading their policy manuals and eventually checking with the resort foods department head (who had never dealt with such a confounding issue before), they punted the matter on up to Tony and Tyler who then ran a non-binding internet referendum on the issue but were powerless to issue a ruling without the consent of at least John Hildebrandt.
Finally, Dick Kinzel came in for lunch and spilled some chocolate syrup on just under 2 percent of my shoes. Even though it was technically dark brown, he was somewhat embarrassed by his clumsiness and he gave me special dispensation to continue wearing them for the rest of the season. Of course by this time it was September....
Man, I MISS those days of Cedar Point employment.

If your shoes are 90% white, does it matter what other color is on the shoe? I found a pair I really like (pumas I think) and they have a bit of blue on them, just wondering if they'd be ok if I bought them.

Puma's are great shoes for rides. Don't get really nice ones because I guarntee they will be ruined. They must 90% white, it doesn't matter what other color it has on it. If they're not 90% white you'll have to go to wardrobe and buy them and they aren't exactly "nice".

^^ Just to follow up on that, you do have to meet grooming guidelines before they'll take your picture. That means no facial hair, no piercings that violate code, etc. I know people who have been made to go shave (in the parking lot, because they can't get into the park or housing) before HR would take their picture.
