Suggestion for Jeff: Make the boxes we type in a bit larger (longer), so there isn't as much scrolling left and right. Just a suggestion.

I second that suggestion! Better yet, is there a way to enable word-wrapping in that box?
Word wrapping works fine when I type a message. Maybe it's a browser issue. I have IE 5. Agreed though, a longer box would make it easier to post.
There shouldn't be any scrolling left and right... as Pete said it should wrap. What browser are you using?

Mine does wrap, but as I am typing, the beginning of my sentences I am not able to see again. You have to scroll back if I wanted to read what I just wrote. I'm using Netscape 3.04 and 4.08.

i am using Netscape 4.5 and 4.7 and it scrolls as I type to a point then it just down to a new line but you can type a heck of a long post before it will jump down. Like this whole post will fit on one line.

Actually, they have IE 5.1 or something to that extent. I don't know what new features it has though.
Your browser should word wrap. I doesn't make sense unless your viewing within a frame. The tables should expand and contract in your browser to fit your screen size.

OK... I figured out what is going on here, and it makes me dislike Netscape even more.
In HTML, the language used to make Web pages, we use the "textarea" tag to make the little box where you type your message. I first checked the official HTML documentation from the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) to see if there was anything to control word wrap. Nothing there.
Then I checked Netscape's documentation, and sure enough, there it was. A non-standard attribute that, isn't even consistently implemented in their browsers. Heap this in with their poor implementation of style sheets and the document object model.
Shame on you Netscape!
Anyway, I added the attribute. Let me know if it looks OK, since my browsers work fine.

That does solve the 'problem' I was having. But it did wrap fine...I was just asking for the box we type in to be longer...so I could see more of what I wrote before it gets scrolled to the left out of the viewing area. Get what I mean?
But this does keep all of what I'm writing in the viewing area, which I personally prefer.

The thing about Netscape the most when it comes to HTML is what it does to tables from time to time. My text area doesn't scroll no more.

The physical size of the box is by design to limit, well, I think you know where I'm going with this... ;)

Ride it hard, long, and furious!
Well, it seems to be fixed for me now. All things considered, this works a lot better. But still, would it be unreasonable to make the box at least 70 characters wide instead of 50? I'm just thinking about Usenet standards here...and the fact that with a wider box and the implementation of some way to do PRE text I'd be able to use my usual signature here... 8-)

I tested a wider window, at 70 as you suggested, but it made the box too large for people using a low screen resolution, especially in Navigator (imagine that).

Oh. I see. I guess I am spoiled by the 1024x768 display on my desk at work... 8-)

Does IE5 have an "images" button? I want to know before I download it because it probably doesn't. The text box just started wrapping for me, it didn't before(Netscape 4.51)
By images button you mean?
