I think they're going to replace the antique cars with the retired "rocket rods" from disneyland. :) oh wait, wrong themed land. LOL!!
I think that CP is going to built a coaster. Which they are right now and then some type of flat thrill ride like they have to past 2 years. or they might build some small ride. or they might just build a coaster who knows.

What would the advantage be of building two rides for 2007?

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.
There are a number of reasons the park might do so. Whether the park is in a state that it needs to do so, I don't think so.

Why market two rides in one year when you could market one ride in 2007 and another in 2008?

That wasn't my point. My point was that if the park needed to promote the park with two new rides, they could do so (ie: if attendance was very low, or they wanted to target two seperate groups of guests, as said above, like thrill seekers versus families). But, also like I said, I don't think the park is in the place that we would be seeing this from them.

They did that in 2002 with Wicked Twister and Snoopy Rocks on Ice. I think that worked out well.

Well, if they're trying to bring in people from longer distances away, I would think it would be easier to do with two attractions. Like if a family was on the fence, TWO new attractions (not necessarily coasters) would make the decision easier. Like, "well six flags only has one new thing, but CP has TWO, let's go there." I dunno, it would influence me if I had to make that decision. Then again, I'll make up excuses to go to theme parks. :)
I just don't see it happening. Other parks have tried this and failed, so I don't see CP doing it.

I don't know what publicity you all seen for SkyHawk, I personally have not seen a lot. What if, CP does link these two attractions with another one and advertise the hell out of Frontier Town?
maybe skyhawk was part of a major project that was split into 2 phases..project 2006 and project 2007 and both rides have the same theme...like i said before, the colors look the same. And this will be the creation of a new midway! or at least a name change...this all seems patriotic to me..
when i first thought of that i didnt think it would work, but after i thought of it, it seems like it would work
From what I have learned, CP usually builds a ride every other year. In 2005-2006 they built two thrill rides. I do understand that CP has a new owner????
Anyway, why back to back thrill rides then all of a sudden a coaster?

you might want to get your money back from wherever you're "learning" this information about CP. but, we've already established that there is no "pattern" to when CP installs a new thrill ride. and, saying that CP has a new owner is the most hysterical thing i've read on here in quite some time. LOL!!
*in a strong british accent* I feel like laughing. HA..hA...Ha...ha. lol ;)
He may be thinking of Kings Island.
No, there is no distinct pattern. In addition, there is a 2-3 year curve to what is being installed. In other words, this ride was planned most likely just after TTD was done. CP added to thrill rides because in many people's opinion they needed more, which I happen to agree with. You also have to consider the placement as well. Maxair came with an incredible refurbishing of the whole games section of the park, while SkyHawk by many would be considered to be the beginning to the reawakening of Frontier Land, with this coaster being an extension of that.
I do hope the entrance to Mean Streak is aided somehow by this addition.
