Turn Support

Call me crazy but it looks like a section of one of the supports in the first turn was trimmed. Anyone else see something like it?

Yes, one of the last over bank supports on the first turn is dug out somewhat. It has been like that for a while, from last year and maybe longer.

I think peoples hands used to hit the support and it numbed they're fingertips or something like that. I touched one of magnums supports while on the ride but we were only going about 35 mph so it didn't really hurt.
If you hit that support at that speed your whole hand will go numb!

which support is it? I didn't notice
Sit on the right side of the train and about 3/4 thru the first overbank look closely and you'll see a trimmed support.
Is there any picture of this. I'm not going to CP till Oct. or next year.

Since I'm assuming that you're talking about the MF support, I can definitely vouch for this happening for a fact. It was one of the single most stupid things I've ever done while on a coaster and will never even attempt to do it again.

did you get really injured or did it just hurt for a little while?

I agree with Joey Stewart, I will never do it again either! My hand went numb for about 25-30 min.

Look in this pic and it's the support parallel to the ground right above the copyright. I don't think it has been trimmed in this pic though. It's just a cut-out shped like this \______/ just not as extreme.

My hands got mighty close to the support on that first turn, ive had my middle finger just brush it, not a good experience

I've heard many stories of people hitting they're hands on this support, and I believe it because I swear if I didn't move my arms to the left while passing it I'd hit it. I've never attempted to touch the Magnum supports on the returning bunny hops, but some guy one row in front of me did hit about 5 or 6 poles in a row, and even at that moderately slow speed it was still pretty loud.

I think Red Garter Rob had the most painful experience with that support opening year (it was the offseason after opening year that they modified it). As I remember, his whole lower arm smacked the support and left it numb.

Even with the modification, I've still been able to nip it a few times, and I don't have long arms at all, mind you I do lean out pretty far on the overbanks. I think it's easier to hit if you sit in the back rows of the cars. Not something I'm recommending though...

Honestly, I believe that you can touch the supports of most of the rollercoasters at Cedar Point, Mean Streak, Magnum and Millenium. But if you keep your hands straight up on Magnum and Mean Streak, you'll be fine.

I've never tried it, but when you go down past the first overbanked turn after the 180 ft hill on Millenium Force, it seems as if the person on the right could actually touch the support, it's not just a head chopper. It looks like it is faded if you pay attention to it.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

If you sit on the left side on magnum, you can touch the tree right after you hit the first set of brakes after the last tunnel.

Let's not forget the support(s) right before the helix on Gemini. I used to try to hit them. Usually, successfully. Then, my brother, who's a good deal taller than me, broke his two middle fingers on his right hand while trying to prove that it doesn't hurt.

khommy... that support you are talking about on MF's island isn't as close as it seems when you're going that fast. There's a good picture somewhere that shows what I'm talking about. I still reach my arm out really far at that point to scare people or whatever, but I don't come even close to the support.

On a related note, has anyone touched the famous head chopper on the blue side of Gemini? You know, between the 2nd and 3rd turnarounds? That's definitely my favorite head chopper... I love sitting in the back of the blue train and watching everyone's arms go down when they see it coming. :)
